Great rendering, is it maya mental ray?

but it seems with the sss shader, you loose a lot of the details…

Nice stuff, will be cool finished!

Hi Dickie Thanks dude, I’m glad you’ve liked, thanks for your comment.

Hey Sebcesoir yes, It’s mental ray. I agree with you, really a loose a lot details, perhaps because the sss. I need still to some adjustments, how I said and will fix this. Thnaks for your comment mate.

Having great result with MR and displacement is hard. The best is to have a displacement map and a bump map. Displce for all the big transformation and bump for all the tiniest details…
Or change you rendering engine ! Vray and Turtle give much cool results ! Vray doesn’t exist yet for Maya but Turtle is cool ! Renderman seems to have cool renders with displace too but I did’nt test it…
Anyway, Alan, cool work again !
:+1:

Hey Gilles Yes, I agree with you. The displ in mental ray really is hard. I made some tests with phong and I didn’t lost a lot details as with fast skin.(?) Lighting?

I don’t know the turttle render? Is good? This render support mental ray shader?

Renderman it’s a mistery to me… I need update me, hehehe

I’m posting the pic with more zoom
Thanks

Alan

Strange, I always have the feeling that SSS powerup the bump… Strange that it does the opposite with the displace…

Yes it is a cool render, it support miltidisplace render which is cool with Zbrush ! But it don’t support MR shaders. But it have got some SSS shader which is cool…

Be sure Alan that I need to be updated too ! Renderman is not one of my “known” render engine !

Maya, Zbrush, photoshop, Illustrator, Mental ray, renderman, turtle. shaders, coffe, MTV, My god! :o I’ll be gardener, it’s more easy

Well, it’s the textures of feathers. I just made two kinds and one alpha, what do you think?

Thanks

Alan

Great work, the expression & textures are awesome, only 2 things stand out for me, but they are minor gripes. There’s some blue in the nostril area & the tongue stud looks like post work, it doesn’t look like it belongs ie no shadow cast or reaction to lighting…

The hair looks crazy, very nice touch…

That aside top row stuff…

Hey Buckie Glad you’ve liked dude.

I agree with you about the tongue, really I need fix somethins there, you’re right.

The blue point on the nose, I think be the background, but i’ll fix this, perhaps the nostril be a bit short, i think.

thanks dude

Hey everyone, one more up

I’ve made some alphas to do eyelashes and eyebrow

Thanks

Alan

Congartulations for your work.
It look really cool.
Hope everything will be perfect.
I was looking your alpha of eyebrow, and I thought was a liitle bite straight.
Maybe a little S shape help.m And the end looks too much hair.
Hope this help,
Arturo

P.D:I made that not because were wrong but looking you marvellous work thought that your work worth the suggestion. suggestion.jpg

Another nice exemple a maya sss!
Do you use final gather as rendering seeting?

On a tutorial, Ive seen maya fast skin shader use a lightmap, is that correct?

Hi Sebcesoir. No, but I want to use final gather to the final image. About the sss tutorial. Gilles have a good tutorial at cgtalk.com http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=214189 I hope you like.
