Evan Gaugh: yes i switch back to vray:). although i think modo is one of the best modeler and got a nice rendering system, i do prefer vray for rendering.it’s hard to explain why but i get better result (and faster ;)) with vray than any other renderer, and i like the way it work. i think it’s very easy to use so you can focus on the “artistic” part of your work.
the shader is a very simple one, here the setting:

jjssanjuck: actually, in this case, it’s because i used a very low sampling in vray to speed up the rendering. but i like it so it’s ok for me:).
you can produce this in photoshop too with filter.

I’m having trouble these days myself being reduced to rendering with MR instead of VRAY due to lack of SSS worth of mentionning in the latter.

MR is terrible :frowning:

I digress though - very nice! :slight_smile:

Try using XSI and MR it has a great and fast skin shader! I’ll put up some screen shots soon!

the shaders, as far as I know, are very similar in MR for Maya, XSI and Max.
The shaders are actually not what I dislike the most about MR - The top worst thing is it’s apalling AA system which, one would think, would be orders of magnitude better after so much time on the market with so many versions. Honestly, Max’s default Scanline offers MUCH better AA and filtering.
Then there’s the terrible displacement abilities which are slow, complicated and very limited.
The ONLY reasonable thing about MR is it’s shaders, which are too very unuser friendly and slow, but the SSS and skin shaders are good.

That’s basically it. The rest doesn’t justify the renderers popularity unless I missed a “Make MR better” button somewhere.

i looked at your work on yoru page and am wondering how do you get such great wrinkles?
some people say to use deco brush in projection master to cut lines then use inflate after outside of projection master then smoothe it… but when i use deco brush it acts all weird and doesnt do that controllable “scalpel sliceing” i want

how do you make yours?
