Great work, would love to get my pipeline between ZBrush and Modo going… do you do your base meshes in Modo and the UV map and then of to ZBrush for finer work and then all the maps back to Modo? Colour maps in ZB or Modo?

One last question, are you Swedish, as my mother is a Janson, her family is from Sweden?

Ziggy

I like this image a lot. Nicely done. I have often wanted to sculpt thin long people like these proportions. You did great on this. Keep them coming.

Very inspiring and impressive work- I love that you have a solid grasp of anatomy and form, but an original sense of design. Now I want to copy everything you did- don’t worry, it will pass… just when you see great work, it makes you realize possibilities you’ve ignored. 5 stars

BTW- I was more into the original design. The more realistic one just feels watered down to me. Its nice to see both.

Hello again Martina,

I am one of the person who wrote about specular map. I must tell you that first pieces are looks much better than those last pieces. Reflection and Specular level with skin color they all gave me chocolate taste wich is smells Africa. I think you should stick to first concept than play a bit over scecular colors, levels but not much cuze first render style is actually rather satisfying.

cool character … very nice work

Someone here corrected me earlier about the neck -rings sculpted here:

AFAIK, the African Ndebele rings are worn to show marriage status (and wealth).

I apologise if I mistook the image to show a neck ‘stretched by rings’ - unique to SE Asia  (it appeared so to me)

Nonetheless - as I said before, this a finely modeled piece, and congrats on attaining top-row

Chris

Really great piece, I like what you did with the playing with the proportions, its almost believable if you look at it for long enough.

Very cool style, wonderful too see some creativity rather than just trying to make the ‘perfect’ anatomy.

The last character is pretty well done as well. Hehe.

nice style !

nice work I realy love it!

This is such a unique piece. Very beautiful!

Man, I love this women hehehe
Really, Great job .

Thanks for your comments everyone!!
It’s very interesting and helpful to hear all of your opinions!
I’m learning a lot from it.

Sigmund Hentze - I make my basemeshes and the uv-maps in Modo,
and all the sculpting in zbrush.
I make the textures in Photoshop, and sometimes I use Zapplink in Zbrush.
And yes, I’m swedish. Janson is a swedish name, but I don´t know if her family is from sweden, but maybe we are relatives!

Atwooki, Erik Heyninck and BrettSinclair. Thanks for the information about the neck rings! I actually didn´t know it was called the ndebele tribe ,
but I know that I’ve seen pictures with african women who wear them.

And last, thanks for the top-row-spot! It makes me very glad, and to hear that I have been able to inspired some people that makes me even more happy.

Here is a render to you who likes the bootie!

Very very good!

Martina,
The eyes may be wrong, the skin too shiny, the ankles out of proportion etc, but this is one of the most brilliantly original, inspiring and just plain brilliant pieces of work I’ve seen in these pages - and I’ve seen some incredible things here.
Congratulations, this is an exceptional piece of art. 5 stars every day of the week!

Subtle and fine Art balances :grimacing:

Bravo, cheer and respect for you and your work …

:+1: :+1: :+1: for me

Interesting work, especially like the carricatured style you’ve managed to pull off, makes me want to model something African themed as well, keep it up man :+1:

Impressive distortion. I am looking forward to more African beauty and not just flattery though.
