Hi all.

New KnotPlot Release and features 10-26-05:

"Celtic Knotting (26 Oct 05)
This feature has been available in a hidden form for a long time (over a year), but now it is directly available off of the Sketch panel. Also included are a few example Celtic knot grids.

TopoICE (26 Oct 05)
The Topological Interactive Construction Engine (TopoICE) has also been available for some time, but a new and updated version is now included. See below for more information and user manuals.

KnotPlot Help (26 Oct 05)
The KnotPlot `help’ button finally does something useful! Well, possibly, maybe. Hope it helps!"

With all these great z-plugins and helper apps like KnotPlot, I guess I don’t need my copy of GroBoto anymore.

http://groboto.com/v2/index.htm

I’m not sure how to do some of these in Zbrush but I’m sure it can be done;

Great for Knots, Organic growths, imports into Zbrush great. See previous posts :+1:

Knotplot has been updated. The interface now has access to the previously hidden Celtic Knots features. From the author; “…now it is directly available off of the Sketch panel. Also included are a few example Celtic knot grids.”

He is also asking for donations to keep development going.
'Tis the season to be generous!

Lemo (running back playing with Terragen)

Can you do Knots with Terragen? (or is this off topic)? I have an old version, haven’t tried the new release yet. (besides, I already have Vue Inf for environment stuff).

oh dear…there goes tomorrow afternoon…haha thanks for the heads up lemonnado.

running back playing with Terragen

Do you find this new version more speedy than the older ?

Frenchy, the beta I am working with is dead slow. But that is a know fact as it is not optimised according to the developers. So it’s a slowwwww beauty.

I got into another knot related adventure…

A couple of weeks ago my first experiment to carry 3d into the real world was a success. I retrofitted a small metal mill with a bunch of stepper motors and with a mad mix of software the monster is alive. It’s a 5 axis system. (Fifth axis not shown). The next step is a 5x5x3ft 6 axis system.

I created a celtic knot in knotplot, then imported that into ZBrush and dropped it onto the canvas and adjusted it there onto a plane. Then I mrgbz grabbed the height profile and generated a tool path out of that for the Lemonator. Worked of the bat.

My first real world, touchy feely, piece which jumped of the Zbrush canvas onto a piece of 3/4Inch MDF. (Metal look because of brushed on brass dust… lol… I applied a brass shader to the MDF haha).

Here is a pic of the machine I build for that and other experiments:

(Light Bulb for size reference, and little Monster borrowed from Bas Mazur to guard the thing when I am not at home.)

Here is another carving, this time into a block of Mahogany donated by a friendly furniture maker. I used the Zeeble method to create the relief this time.

The next project is a pen consisting out of a 360 cylinder based Zbrush modeled geometry. The model looks crazy good already, I’ll post it when it’s milled in wood.

Cheers
Lemo

Wow, very cool! The MegaMill in action. Any sign of unionshaped splinters by any chance?
