10 weeks of design bliss "warning nudity"

Thanks for having a look at my stuff and leaving your comments, its great getting support from you all.

Ok so here is my second sculpt. I had some troubles with this thing and decided to finish it as it is. From the start I loved the silhouette as you will see in the first steps of the wip. It took me a little while to work out how I wanted the mouth and eyes. I wanted to make something unrelated to usual bipedal or quadrupedal beings.
Time taken on this one would be around 4-5hrs!! Hard to believe and its not really complete as far as detailing could go.

Thanks,
Nick

This would be sculpt number three for the first week.
So here we have my 3rd monster, for this one a made a bit of a sketch at work as I was trying to work out what a monster is.
I came up with an idea that a monster is something familiar but confusing and that becomes scary. Anywho, this one took around 3-4hrs to complete with polypaint.
After an update I would have put in an extra 1-2hours.

Very nice.
I think (s)he needs a good dentist

This is great.

What an imagination you have.

Fantastic!

Definitely imaginative as stated!!! Awesome sculpts!!!

This was my final sculpt for my first week of creature workshop.
Good one Rastaman  and thanks for the compliment EricShawn!

I love them! Keep at it, youll dominate the workshop!

Ha Ha, Thanks Aralox :+1:

Ok, so we are into week two and the theme is “Freak”. Cesar sculpted a wicked freak with a massive arm, inspires by the fiddler crab.
Now its my turn. I was inspired by a series of pictures from Maybridge of a deformed boy who walked on all fours.
The model is still under construction and I think Ill do another one just so I have two. Anywho, this model has a bit of nudity from the back so watch out for the freaky nudity. Anyway this is it.

Well now it week 3 and Cesar has covered wrinkles (of the face).
He explained why and where they are to be found on the face. Very interesting stuff and very cool procedure of acieving the wrinkled face without alpas…just patience.
This is my 1st old man face (below). It took 4hrs for to create.

A bit of an update

the “freak” is really cool,
I like it

Hey thanks gwainbarek!! I should revisit the freak soon and sharpen her up a bit.
Here I have a new wrinkle head which was started fresh but kind of looks alot like the last one I did, just a bit older.
Under that is after adding a few hairs in Photoshop.

Comments and advise are more than welcome here. Its always good to get another perspective on things.
Thanks!!

This weeks class was to take the old man and add some expression to him, mainly rage and a smile. So here is a list of expressions and a short video of them in action.

Hello to you, this week it was time to do “Insectoids”. Basically sculpt an insect like creature using basic fundamentals or insect or spider or crab, etc.
Anywho, this is my first design.

This is my final sculpt project for CDR2.
I have not been happy with it and did some experimenting with form and other designs but have now returned to something closer to the original design…as you will see.

Nice work Nicko. The head of the old man and the crab looks great.

Thanks Halogenic!!
Here is my final work of the Alien WIP shown above!

Really like that final pic… The comp is amazing, love the fact that you put the tree branches in front of the alien, makes it even more believable. Top notch.

Anyway we could get you to make one with some filters to make it look like a bad photograph? I think it would be fun to see the image like that… Anyway, really awesome work, you have a great eye for detail and your finishing is amazing.

Here are a couple more renders.
The first one is of the alien from the forest picture above.
The second one is a four legged creature designed for week six of the Creature Design R2 class.
