Arthur Schopenhauer - The Emptiness of Existence - Tribute
This project was inspired not only by how his thoughts and metaphysics influenced me but also by it's technical difficulties and things I wanted to learn, and oh man... it took some effort. So here it is: just a reminder for myself to not care that much. Fully sculpted and polypainted by hand with my own brushes and alphas in ZBrush with HD Geometry. Rendered in Maya with Arnold. XGen for hair. Please watch the video with headphones on! I hope you enjoy the experience a little bit! 323125057 My instagram for updates: https://www.instagram.com/fabiopaivart/

sheaspina, thanks a lot man! skullmonkey, hey dude, glad you like it! Thanks! Cordycep, thanks a lot! Glad it helped you! Gunnahan, Thanks! And yea... I really liked the splashes too adee09, thanks a lot! Verde, thanks man! AVBN5000, thanks a lot! It´s nice to hear that! TrevorJ/Gordon Robb, Thanks for dropping by! I´ve modeled everything in the way we all do. Lot´s of subtools and most of the meshes are inside one another. The only thing that I double check is to not leave any open holes. If you want you can use two programs later for the cutting operations: MeshLab and Magics (one for STL export and the other for the boolean operations). Please take a look at the image I´ve attached. Kinda messy but... all closed! I don´t really know if that´s really a need nowadays, but I once read it was... so... So, after a few days trying to make the right cuts and finally getting it to work, I found out that the guys at ownage would do that for free. hahah Later! meshes_noHoles.jpg

Tarzan
Hey all! What started just as an anatomy study during lunch breaks turned out to be a big project to me. I used Tarzan as my main inspiration for this study. The anatomy is a bit extreme/unrealistic on a few areas but I really like the feel it gives to the sculpt. I also took the chance to finally learn Mari and how to use UDIM uv maps, and I was pleased to know that ZBrush handled it quite well. So for his body I am using 22 patches with 1k size each (2k or 4k was taking too much time. No need for this project). And some crazy nodes over max, but it really works. It was the most time consuming project I ever did but I learned so much with it that I feel no regretss lol Hope you like it as well! Thanks! Old Bishop
My main goal with this model was to develop my grooming/shading/rendering skills. I used a Randy Bishop sketch of this xmen character, but of course it turned out different. So in a way he is just an older version of the real Bishop ahah I used ZBrush, 3DMax, Ornatrix, Photoshop and Vray on this project. Please visit my fb page for more info: https://www.facebook.com/fabiopaivaart/ Thank you!

Hey everyone! After almost 3 years without showing anything around here I'd like to dump some stuff I did over the years. I was lucky enough to live as a freelancer for 4 years in Brazil but now I live in New Zealand and it's been one year already. How time flies by! Anyway, here it is. Hope you like it! Study based on a Ido Yehimovitz sketch. I call him The Strongman! Anatomy study based on a "Émile Nestor Joseph Carlier (3 January 1849 – 11 April 1927)" sculpture. Just a quick 5~6h study with no symmetry. You can see a timelapse on my facebook page: https://goo.gl/GfAIc7

Really inspiring, my favourite's are the Burly man and the Civil War soldier. I'd be interested to know how you made the braiding on the soldier's tunic as it's something I've really struggled with!!

Thanks a lot guys! Very happy you like it! @sorovince, Yes I do! All the time! It´s just that here in Brazil 3D printing is very expensive. I have some printing work but I´ve never done a personal one. @VisceralD, nothing too fancy with render settings. Just enough vray sudv to make it less noisy (mats, lights, etc..). The most important here are the textures and lights. And of course we all do some PS work later. If you have any other specif question, just let me know. Here are some simple breakdown images with some comments on I´d like to share. Hope it help somehow on your guys work. Thanks

Thanks a lot guys! CookieMonster, I tried to be as close as possible with the main reference as with other anatomical referencer throughout the modeling. Thanks! I´d like to share some other images of this model as I´ve put a lot of effort into this. Modelling everything with symmetry off is a great exercise! Hope you like it!

Thx guys! @Fabian3224, I don´t think it´s a must but it will certainly help your perception. Drawing and sculpting will always be important but you can digitaly sculpt without them. It will just take more time (for you to do good/great things) I guess. You won´t be wasting your time if you decide to draw/sculpt something. Hope it helps! So here's another study. James Cromwell and Bill Nighy.

Fabio Paiva - anatomy thread
Hello all, Sculpting anatomy is one of my passions so I decided to make a specifc thread for my studies. ZBrush is a great tool for that since I can now use dynamesh and zremesher all the way. So, for starters I'd like to share 4 studies, the first one being based on a frazetta´s sketch. Hope you like it as much as I do! Thanks!

All your work is so impressive! Truly inspiring! I have never done traditional sculpting, but the more exposed I am to digital sculpting the more I notice that a lot of the really amazing digital sculptures at one point or another (or still do) take up...
