Devils Trill
Here's my finished sculpture the Devils Trill. I've been working on this piece for the last 3 months on /off. I've learnt a lot on this piece about how I will approach surface detail and techniques that will translate well into a final bronze statue. These images serve as a previz for the final patina and texture that I hope to achieve from the casting foundry. This project is a journey into mixed media and an exploration on how we can use 3D, primarily Zbrush as a visual aid to compliment real world productions. The Last Metroid
Finally after what feels like years I can show my version of Samus, it was done for a private client and now I can show. Based on the Varia suit from Metroid Prime I wanted to honour the original look and feel while also keeping it fresh, I decided on a more desaturated burn orange and yellows for the armour. The client also wanted a traditional pose giving respect to its heritage. I built Samus in Zbrush 4 firstly by blocking out with dynamesh and predominantly the move, standard and trim dynamic brushes, along with some clip curve so really basic shapes. I then did my retop in Topogun, then back into zbrush to add creases and sub-d levels I then detailed in zbrush. Lastly I posed with Zbrush and made the base. Also for this project I switched my rendering engine over to Renderman for Maya, that was a bit of a learning curve but I ultimately enjoyed the process and will continue to build on what I learnt throughout. Cheers for looking here's the renders and some wips during the process, I'll put some wires and extra shot up soon. I'm open to questions please mail me through ZbrushCentral. Anatomy Series / Gumroad
I've been doing more study work these days getting back to raw forms with low poly counts, just enough to force attention around bigger mass building. Reference was taken from Victorian photography. Each study is roughly an hour or under. These are part of something I'm creating called the Anatomy Series which includes hands, feet, busts, reference figures etc etc the list goes on. I also will be taking requests so if you like my work and would like a specific model for your reference I will make it. The series is now available on Gumroad. I also had lots of questions about how I render, and if I would make my scenes available. So I created a clean render scene in Maya/ MR, for you to use directly or modify to suit your needs. This scene is very simple and for users new to MR its a great aid, when I was a student I found it difficult to get to grips with and many an hour was spent tweaking settings to get the correct look, here I'm making a simple scene available so you can get under the hood really quickly and dissect the scene to see how easy it really is. This scene is great for adding drama to your renders, its a powerful scene for rendering your sketches out, or build upon the scene and take it further either way you will get a nice picture. I've made the work and models as cheap as I can, the reason they aren't all free is simply so I can keep making more work for the community. I think you will be happy with the results you can create with the files, thanks for looking, and again thanks for the support over the years. I hope this project will become a encyclopedia of anatomic study, and the aim is to create assets with a sincere thank you to the masters of the past. Thanks again Dan Link https://gumroad.com/dancrosslandart

3DTotal Figure
Hi guys, Here's a few renders of the anatomy figures I did for 3DTotal, including some photos of the final cast. Master 3Dptint was done by Ownage, and the final sculpt from Zbrush was prepared using the 3D Exporter.

I'm going to use this thread to put some new projects up and some doodles I've been working on since I was last around, I hope you enjoy them. I made this sculpt over a year ago and finally decided to take this one all the way, I hope you like it and its good to be back. I'll give you some info below but feel free to drop me a mail if you have any questions. Cheers guys Dan Sculpt: ZbrushR7 Texture: Zbrush/Bodypaint/Photoshop Model: Zbrush/XSI Comp: Photoshop/Lightroom, Used Lightroom to touch up levels and cross process the final renders.
