TOP ROW! One of my favorite Shows, and you nailed it! The skin shading is top notch, and takes it over the top for me. If i had one nitpick, it would be the clothes look a little too clean\new, but again that's just my personal cg beef. Great work!

Rust - True Detective fan art
It's been more than a year since last time I made a personal artwork, as family and daily work keep me super busy. This is my attempt to create a realistic portrait of Rust Cohle, the main character of the great American TV show "True Detective". It took me nearly two months of my spare time to make this, the base mesh and hair were created in Maya, sculpted in zBrush, rendered with Octane Render, and final tweaks in Photoshop. I will show some wip images in the next days, I hope you like it.

AntLion (low-poly)
Hi everybody, I would like to share the last work I did in my spare time. A friend on mine that works at Weta Digital (yes, the company behind Lord of the Rings), asked me to help him on a personal project, so he gave me a couple of sketches of a creature, and this is what I came up with. Be aware that this has nothing to do with Weta, it's a PERSONAL work. This is a low-poly model. It can be rigged and animated in real-time. Hope you like it!

From the photo, it looks like you captured him alright! Okay, dumb question: So, would you say it would be impossible then to get a decent body scan of someone, or their face, with the subject on a turntable, and with the camera on a tripod, without...

Here I am again. I've been very busy lately, so I didn't have much time to work on this, but now I finally finished. I reworked the scene, and added the full body model. For the clothing I used Agisoft PhotoScan to get a realistic base mesh, than I retopologized it in Maya, and sculpted the fine details in zBrush. Render in Octane, final adjustment in Photoshop/Magic Bullet. Click here for the 4K version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34021721/ren/ren_new_4k.jpg

Impressive!!! Lot of excellent work. But, I also like the zbrush preview. Some of the sculpting is lost under a real pathtracer (like octane). Not lost exactly but... you know. Such things should always be expected. A more dramatic lighting in...

100% Heisenberg
Thank you all for the comments guys! So, this week I've spent another couple of days making one more image (I swear, this is the last one of this subject, this forum is starting to be too crowded of Walter White ). Previously, I did the eyes in a simple way, just by projecting the photo on my model, but this time I made a proper eye-bulb, complete with Cornea, Iris and Sclera. And for the fan of the show, I dresses him 100% Heisenberg! I hope you like it, and happy new year!

OMG, I can't believe I've got the toprow, I'm so happy I want to cry! Thank you so much to everyone for the comments and support, this is a HUGE achievement for me! Many of you seems to be interested on how I made it, so I roughly reconstruct the main steps, although I don't really have anything to teach to anyone, especially here in this forum, as I get blown away by how insanely talented people are out there. I have all to learn from you guys! Anyway, here we go

Thank you all for the kind words and comments, I'm really happy you liked my work! I didn't think to record the modelling process, sorry about that. About the texturing method and shading, I simply used photo references and patiently poly-panted by areas on the model. The skin shader is an Octane Mix material, duffuse shader + specular shader with SSS, nothing too fancy. Anyway, I did one last correction, some people seemed to bother about the glasses without lenses, so I've added the lenses and I also increased slightly the red scattering on the ear. The difference is subtle, but it's there. I call this done, hope you like it!

Great modeling, texturing, lightning and fibermesh! Top row! Breaking bad is my favorite TV series - awesome, too Did you do the glasses with Zbrush as well? How? Tommy XSPACE

Hi all! This weekend I decided to try out the new "opacity mode" of 4R5, and it's great! I made this as tribute to a great show, Breaking Bad. If you are interested in the details, it's mostly dynamesh from a sphere, retopologized, uv-mapped, poly-painted and then I used fiber mesh for the facial hair. Two days of work. I hope you like it, and merry Christmas!

The Qeen Of Fighters
thumb.jpg Hi all! Here's a personal project I worked on recently, is a character from a popular fighting game, The King of Fighters. The goal was to create a figure for 3D printing, but when I finished the hi-poly sculpt I found out that the website I wanted to use (ownage.com) is gone! So I decided to take my hi-poly model and make a low-poly version, just for fun! I hope you like it, thanks for watching! screenshot01.jpg screenshot02.jpg screenshot03.jpg screenshot20.jpg screenshot25.jpg screenshot27.jpg screenshot28.jpg screenshot29.jpg wire.jpg And here's the zBrush hi-poly model that will never be printed... zgrab01u.jpg zgrab02.jpg zgrab03.jpg zgrab04.jpg zgrab05.jpg zgrab06.jpg Cheers!

Thank you for the comments, I basically agree on everything, the eyelashes actually become thinner and at the very end they enlarges again, I did that to try to simulate the dirty of the mascara, but obviously it didn't work out very well... The eyes actually have a reflection, the round white dot you see in the pupil is a circular panel in the scene, but maybe I should have thought to something more complex... I use this image as reference for the pose btw... 096_meisa_photo_02.jpg

Kuroki Meisa portrait
thumb.jpg Hello everyone, my name is Riccardo, I'm Italian but I live and work in Japan for a Japanese video game company. After ages of laziness, I finally decided to make something a little more complex than a real-time character, and I made this portrait inspired of Kuroki Meisa, a Japanese Singer and Actress. This exercise allowed me to learn tons of new things, such as how to create a clean four-sided topology, how to sculpt an hi-detailed mesh in zBrush, use the hair system in Maya, and how to setup properly a skin shader and light up a scene. For this project I used Maya, zBrush and Photoshop. The final render is made with Mental Ray. I hope you enjoyed it as I enjoyed to make it! final.jpg And here is some WIP: maya_grab.jpg zbrush1.jpg zbrush2.jpg zbrush3.jpg sss_textures.jpg sss.jpg hair.jpg passes.jpg
