Bored Magistrate
Here's a WIP of something I'm doing to experiment with some Keyshot render settings. These are BPR renders of where it's at right now. A little crude at the moment. When the model's done and I make maps, I'll start the Keyshot rendering tests.

Retro Robot
I started this character to use for a specific project that wound up getting scrapped very early on. However, I'd already gotten hooked on the style of 1950's B-movie robots and decided to go ahead and make this anyway. I'm more happy with the model than the render I got, but that's me.

Erik, this is easily one of the nicest things anyone has ever sad about my work. Thank you very, very much! I am not so savvy a forum poster. Maybe there's a way to unify my stuff so that it's more accessible. I'll make enquirers, but either way....

Erik, thanks for bringing the problem to my attention. I asked the ZBCentral folks for help and the very excellent Matthew Yetter got back to me right away and then merged all my threads into one. Cheers, to both. T

Tristanartform ZBrush 2018 Beta test images
HI all. It was great fun being able to test out the powerful new modeling features in ZBrush2018. Attached are images of two of the models I created for the test. All modeling and texturing was done inside Zbrush 2018. Keyshot was used for the colored renders and Photoshop for comp. Both models were done using Sculptris Mode to create the original model -- no dynamesh at all. The spacecraft, helmet and belt buckle for the panicky alien were done almost entirely using the new insert primitive functions along with the new deformers. Final detailing was done using my traditional Zbrush techniques. ZBrush 2018 has some really amazing new additions to the Zbrush toolkit, and I'm looking forward to watching the direction everyone's art will take as people discover ever newer and amazing ways to utilize the new capabilities.

Thanks again. The background is done in Photoshop using lots of different layer types, image samples, digital painting and manipulation tools. The only 3D elements are the dinosaur and the rocky "plinth" it's posed on

New Work. Still doing some material tweaks in Keyshot, but here's where I'm at with it just now. May try to add feathers at some point.

Here's an early WIP of a model I'm working on for a client. Still a lot of work to do on surface detail and maps, but I figured it was far enough along to post a WIP shot

This is pretty close to what I had imagined. Have to do a little playing with the bump detail effect on the limbs -- that's stronger than I want. Made his limbs more "creature-like" than I want and it's a bump issue. Still, the idea for our race as it could appear in the far future when our aesthetic has evolved according to our own ability to change our form as needed and our organic life is only one part of a complex, multi reality existence.

Beyond Human
Hi gang. This guy started as what I had hoped would be an entry in the current Artstation challenge, "Beyond Human". Unfortunately, I realized I don't have the spare time needed to do all the work I would need to to be eligible. So, I'm just trying to get this guy finished as a personal piece. This is a WIP -- no textures or finished details yet. No pose. My idea was a human race in the future that can constantly physically alter itself as desired as it interacts with it's environment. It can add limbs, modify limbs, organs, etc... on the fly. What would a species of human be like when it's aesthetic choices and functions weren't limited by nature. How would it choose to look and how did the race get to this point. For this character, my thinking is it would have progressed by the slow infusion of technology over centuries till it arrived at a state where there is no longer any real distinction between natural and artificial. Thus, an atavistic aesthetic that has a vaguely mechanical look may persist. Here they are no longer part machine and part organic. It's trans-organic. But having at one time been a hybrid between organic and synthetic, perhaps a suggestion of the two is visually still part of the species. Anyway, I hope to at least get this fellow done eventually. Too bad about the challenge.

Thanks guys. It's been a weird year with a lot of great things but also a lot of stress. I definitely have to return to silly and puerile from time to time for the cathartic value.

Some Imps
I wanted to do something silly and crude. I had some ideas of being really childish and over the top with the design, but ultimately dialed it back and settled on this guy as the concept. He's still ridiculous, but not as crude as he could have been. Maybe next time OK, crits and comments always welcome

Yeah. Too many ratracers are indeed like this. I mean: like you portray them, which is beyond silly and crude. Great work indeed!

Chimpanzee WIP (UPDATE)
Had a cold the past few days so stuck at home with more time to work on this guy. Still a WIP. I added more surface detail. Also, did a good deal of anatomical refining as I felt the shoulder, trap region was too human like. Also, for the face, I broke the symmetry with a slight "pose".

Chimpanzee WIP
Sculpt study I've been jabbing at on and off recently. It's very WIP. More surface detail to add, some anatomy refinement around the area where the clavicle interacts with the acromion process.
