Portrait of MakeupFX Master: Dick Smith (WIP)
I am still alive... This is a work in progress portrait I've been working on and off for the past two months. Still unfinished, with very rough clothes, no buttons, no thin hair blending brows and hair line, likeness has good room for improvement, grooming needs work etc etc etc. But I am sharing this on other platforms, so it would be unfair not to share with this community that did so much for me over the years. The first image was rendered to test a pretty cool camera lens shader developed for Arnold by @zenopelgrims to emulate various vintage lenses. The preset I picked was the the Zeiss Biotar 1927 58mm. Very interesting result, especially on the edges, where you can see the chromatic aberration and the interesting distortion combined with the DOF. ZBrush for sculpting, Maya/Arnold 5/Randomwalk SSS for rendering. Everything you see is 100% "hand-crafted", meaning no photos, scans or commercial alphas were used, other than reference photos from the web, opened on a second monitor, to avoid any type of tracing as well. All textures were polypainted by hand using HD geometry mode (my favorite ZBrush feature by far... please, develop it further, Pixo!!! ). All detail was done either using ZBrush's default brushes or my own set of custom, hand sculpted brushes (pores, wrinkles etc), also in HD mode, at about 70million polys for head/neck/shoulders. The iris is also hand-sculpted, so what you see is actual forms, not textures. Why? Because I already use a lot of scan data in my professional work and that would be meaningless to do on my personal work, because I am in this world to learn and I like "training my eyes" to be able to see better both the macro and the micro picture. So here is what I have so far. I will be posting other things like wires, video timelapses etc, but only when I come back from my trip starting tomorrow. So, I talk to you guys in about a week or so! Captain Marvel - Mini Breakdowns
A small breakdown of the process used. I hope this is helpful for some The whole outfit was modeled this way except a few posing cleanups were done in Maya. Had sculpted the body using Dynamesh and extracted pieces for the outfit. It's actually kinda basic but it does help me a lot in my workflows as I get a clean mesh for sculpting and it is less time consuming than traditional modeling for a clean mesh. I'll try to post more stuff as small breakdowns for the process soon, so stay tuned. -Mad.

In an attempt to share/create more work and subsequently improve I've decided to make a sketchbook thread :) This month I'm holding myself to the challenge of sculpting a new study everyday, with themed weeks. What I'm hoping to improve through this challenge is both expanding my knowledge and observational skill as well as improving speed, workflow, and presentation. This week's theme is female likeness, and for the first day I've decided to sculpt the model Tashi Rodriguez. The sculpt and polypaint took me approximately 4-5 hours.

Sea of Thieves - Character Art
Thought I'd post up some of the work that me and the Character Art team here at Rare have been working on for Sea of Thieves. As a bit of background, all characters in Sea of Thieves are created using a system we developed internally called the Infinite Pirate Generator. This is a system I spearheaded along with the Tech Art and the Character Art team to allowing us to deliver on the initial Character brief for Sea of Thieves - "Be the Pirate you want to Be"...no small feat! The system allows completely automatically generated characters to be generated with a button click and customized from there- vastly cutting down production time and allowing for some creative effects on the Characters in this vibrant, magical world! This was a necessity for the tiny size of the Character Team (no more than 4 on Sea of Thieves at a time, and sometimes down to 1) and the release route the game has taken, for continuous delivery. Hey everyone! My name is Adam Skutt, I'm the character lead over at Ready at Dawn. A bunch of us wanted to share some of our artwork with the Zbrush community. This was a great project to work on, there were so many talented artist involved in creating these assets. All of these images were rendered in Keyshot and sculpted in Zbrush Scot Andreason did the hair cards for Lakshmi, Majid Esmaeili sculpted the male glove and the weapons holster that was shared by most characters. Knight and Horse
Hello, my friends! This is my personal work, called "Knight and Horse". It is the summary of my work this time using ZBrush. My project is based on the conceptual design of French illustrator Julien Renoult. ZBrush is an high-efficiency software that constantly motivated my creative inspiration. Many of the new features of the latest ZBrush4 R8 P2 have given me brand new experience. What very impressive are the latest ZModeler brush and the Transpose track tool. ZBrush is wonderful. I am very lucky to meet ZBrush, and I will continue to accompany you until I get old. Here's a simple breakdown of the techniques I used to to create this model.

XM Studios - White Magneto
Hey guys, This is the Magneto statue that I did for XM Studios. It was great to work with XM and I had a lot of fun in this project. The Magneto itself was all done using Zbrush and I used Blender just for a few parts from the base. Finished! The render is quite straight forward with zbrush passes, deeply inspired by the process of the amazing vahidahmadizb2016 . About the modeling I made everything in zbrush, the hard surface parts are made with zmodeler. It was a really fun project hope you like it!
