Halloween Kid

This is a piece I did for the October Shadows show and book. All the art from the show will be posted here (http://www.creaturefeatures.com/) at some point in the near future. The little sculpture is a print out from an Eden machine done at Gentle Giant Studios. It’s from the same computer files as the print. I’m working on getting a better picture.
Render done in Zbrush.
Much thanks to Scott Spencer and Gentle Giant.

Hey Jim.
Nice to see you around here again.
Really dig the little boy costume.
Brings home some cool memories.
I totally wore those! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Gerat to see this up here Jim!! The figures are so cool- the paint job as well is awesome. I dont know if people can make it out in the pic but there are blades of grass in that output! : )

Great stuff!

Jim I hope you don’t mind but I changed the levels on your image because it didn’t show up well on my computer at least. It may be too hot now but I think it will read better as a thumbnail. I think this is a cool piece and people should get a better look at it. You need to get better photos of the print out because it was really impressive. If I get a chance I will take some , because I 'm sure the guys here on ZBC would like to see it.

Thanks Cesar, Scott and Rick!

Rick, I think our friend, Taylor, has some pictures now. I emailed him. If he doesn’t and you have time please take some. Thanks!

great work Jim!! i love the creature!

very cool concept, looks great! I am curious how you did the grass? I am working on a bearded character and I would like to apply that technique to it…

Thanks Alex!
Machine, I masked with a spray stroke, with the dots alpha selected, inverted the mask, and moved the dots , I think with the size slider under deformations set to the y axis. You could pull the dots with the standard brush too.

very nice, I will try it out. Thank you.

Great Work Jim. I love the retro costume on the kid!

NICE!!

Dang that thing is cool. Now people can really see it!
So Jim, whn are you goign to sell castings? : )

S

looks great Jim!!!

Thanks Scott and Monkeymuscle,

Scott, I guess there'd be moldmaking and casting costs involved and the cost of the initial print. I think it would end up being too expensive. I was thinking of figuring out how much a bronze would be. It'd be just for very serious collectors. Rick, I initially made the Demon transparent so it was even more faded into the background. I ended up with him just dark, to contrast with the boy, like he's just an imaginary figure. Of course in the sculpture he's very solid.

Best,
Jim

Great piece,Jim!
