Zbrush 4 Native 64 bit Version..?

Hmm, shouldn’t it be faster in undos and redos ? I’m really disappointed, because I was hoping for some improvement with my future(?) 8GB RAM rig.

I’m glad it’s useful after all.

Pretty bad, 64 bit should of been out half year ago. Instead they decide to jam more tools on top of 32 bit, thus having to rebuild majority of those tool to work correctly with 64 bit later on. So prob take even longer to see stable version of 64 bit zbrush.

Boruta … undo and redos are pretty fast now… it was cool

…it works I mean.

Got qsoft ramdisk working with zb, but finding it to have very limited use when working with high poly models, Since the more ram has to allocated all time to ram drive it becomes very useless app to improve zbrush performance. Just eats your memory.

Unless im using it wrong ??

Looks like version 4 is still 32 bit. I just installed it and the installation is in the Program Files (x86) folder.

Machines with 24 gigs of DDR3 ram. My god man! My scratch built machine is nearing it’s 3 year mark, and I’ve had it running with 8 gigs of DDR2 since day one, and it was a pretty big deal to have 8 gigs back then.

I’ll have to ditch everything minus the case and power supply to jump onto the the 24 gig DDR3 revolution.

Would love to hear the cost of some of your builds. I’m thinking a new mobo will cost around 300, a new icore 7 another 300, the ram? whats a good ram kit.

Wow things move pretty fast, if you dont stop and look around once and while, you miss it… 8 gigs is standard now, pluck me running.

Just wanted to add when I’m working on models with 16 million polys or more- The save files are in the triple MB digits. Would more ram make the HD write times safer/quicker? If, and when a 64 bit version exists?

30mil is not that uncommon these days… especially when you consider polypainting needs extremely dense meshes to be of any use. the character i’m working on right now is 35mil with 38 subtools. And that’s with a key prop in a totally separate scene. If my goal were to pose the character with the prop within zbrush I’d easily have a ZTL that breached the 45mil mark.

what about 64 bit then?
