Lucky You, I’ve got zip except 100 Euro phone bill- effect of calling element5 several times.
And still can’t launch ZBrush 64-bit.

this is why I think most copy protections are stupid… the people that are going to steal the software are gonna steal it anyway even if you put a padlock on it. All these confusing and complex copy protection schemes do is impair an honest paying customer’s ability to install the software
You’ve got a point there! Maybe oneday every software is opensource…
After 2 sessions trying to authorize and get the program working today without any result, i just succeeded in getting a working license file.
In the first two sessions, the program continually started authorizing, dispite my authorisation message told me authorisation had succeeded.
But just by the third session all went well. It seems element 5 has discovered some problems.
Now i have zbrush x64 working on a xp64 bits machine with 4 gb., but !!! the 32 bits version of zbrush does not work.
After starting up i get an error and the program hangs
Does it mean that the 32 bits version still can not see 4 gb and the 64 bits version does ???
I did not believe the next one:
Installed this new download on a Windows xp pro 32 bits machine with 1 gb, using my license file from the older zbrush 2.0 program.
Reason i can not have both versions working on my xp64 bits system.
I will have both versions working beeing able to decide wilch version i will use, depending on render times
What does this mean !!! this 64 bits version is the same as the 32 bits version only seeing more then 2 gb., but not 64 bits processor code ???
i am lost
Element 5 has finally resolved the issue with the files being delivered by their server. If you have a working copy of the 64-bit version, there is no need to do anything. But if you’re one of the people for whom the 64-bit version would not run, that problem is now fixed.
Element 5 is sending out emails to everyone that they have been able to identify as having been affected by this problem. That email contains a new download link for ZBrush. If you do not receive that email within 24 hours, or if you’d rather not wait for it, please call Element 5 and request that a new download link be sent for your account.
Download and install the new copy. If you already have a working copy of ZBrush 2 (32-bit) on your computer, the new installation will run right away. If this is a completely new installation, then you will need to activate using your original POP code (which Element 5 will also be happy to provide).
To reach Element 5 you can call 800-406-4966 from North America or +49-221-31088-30 (Germany) from the rest of the world. They can also be reached via email at [email protected]. (I recommend the phone call if at all possible, because email response time is sometimes slow.)
I’m having problems with this too and thought I might as well post here before staying up tonight and ringing Germany during their business hours.
My story goes:
So now I have one POP code and three ZBrush2s, none of which will work!
Should I ring Germany from here in Australia? Will they reset my POP code or what?
EDIT: Some friendly users from ZBrushCentral have contacted me and told me what to do as they had the same situation. I should be able to get it all reset and activated by phone in Germany. Hopefully it’ll work!
Luckily ZBrush is most definitely worth the hassle, hehe.
EDIT2: Yay! All fixed in just a few minutes on the phone, though they should add some kind of ‘on hold music’ because the phone was silent for 2 minutes or more and I wasn’t sure what happened. Haha.
hehe… make sure you pay for the software, but use the pirated releases instead
Never! Everytime someone says that, a software programming farie loses it’s wings!
Nah, I’m 100% pirate free and don’t plan on walking the plank anytime soon.
This has been a big problem getting my hands on ZBrush2 64.
Still haven’t got it yet after spending 20 minutes on the phone to Germany. Apparently they don’t have any details of my purchasing through them, although I have all the emails from Element 5 when I bought ZB2 with element 5 order #'s etc (oh yes they have these as well, but they won’t give me the link, they say I bought it through someone else?). Numerous emails to my reseller have resulted in nothing (in fact they didn’t even know about it)!
I hope that ZB3 is not going to be distributed to customers in this same manner, I hate to say it but this method of distribution to current licence holders REALLY IS A PAIN IN THE ASS!
So where to now
Ben:(
Thanks to the very helpful people at Pixologic, everything worked out in the end :D.
Did some PC switching the last weeks. Had a lot of Z-work to do, but had hardware issues. I had to re-install a couple of times on different systems. Many useless calls and E-mails to Germany. Awfull pop-code and server horror. Pixologic never replied at all. To be honest, I’m just far too drained to even try to get my hands on the 64 bit version. The hours I’ve lost with getting the regular version installed… Since a few days I’m working with a 64bit system. But I just don’t have the time to phone to Germany and wait for pixologic to reply. I own a license, I want to install the software and get to work. That’s all. I’ve decited to use my old PC for Zbrush and wish Pixologic loads of fun with the 64 bit version.
After two days of pure frustratation I received my reward! The x64 version is up and running! And oh oh oh… What a reward. Playtime! Many thanks for Pixologics help. Take care y’all.
Well, long story short, i have lost my original backup copy of my original purchased Zbrush,{huge4 computer and HD crash, virii etc} my login no longer works, and i CANNOT with my free email address{the ONLY email adress ive ever used or have} to rebuy the software to use from the download link on the website.
I have always used Yahoo mail, and i cannot select the CREDIT CARD payment option.
So apparently, Pixologic in its infinite wisdom, doesnt want my $498 US dollars bad enough, apparently i have to contact someone and pay even more of my hard earned cash for a goddamned pay email account just to get software.
This is disconcerting to say the least, i loved Zbrush, but i think after reading this thread and the fiascos herin i’ll be better to look into Mudbox, unless someone can explain to me why its such a HASSLE for Pixologic to let thier customers use a free email system…
IRKED.
I also have the “free email address” problem. I have gmail (free) and netscape (not free) but I couldn’t purchase Zbrush with my credit card.
So I went to Safe Harbor and bought it there. Great! But then I discover it will not run on x64! But now I see there’s a version that will run on x64 but the message here says “those who bought Zbrush from our web site…”
So now I’m completely confused. Anyone know if I will be able to get a download address for the x64 version with my “so called free email address”?
I’ve got a similar problem; I just bought and downloaded the program but there’s only one executable in the folder and it shows up in the task manager as 32 bit??
It’s a bit confusing, but a program can be a native 64 bit program or 64 bit compatible (32 bit applications.)
I don’t think Zbrush is a 64 bit application; it’s compatible with x64. But if it’s compatible, it shoud run under x64.
Hi,
I am having the same problem here. element 5 provided a download link the forst time, and I noticed under my Task Manager, ZBrush it is a 32 bits version. The file I downloaded it is called ZBrush2A.exe and it is 24.8 Mb on size.
I emailed them and pixologic suport before post here, and I didn’t get any answer from anyone, so I called Element 5 (Germany, I am in Spain) this morning and a guy said he will sent me a new link, but he sent EXACTLY the same link I got when I purchased ZBrush.
So I called a second time and a different representative told me they only have ONE link for pixologic products, he told me to look the download link on Pixologic website and provide it to THEM so they can solve this???
Meaning basically YOU the customer find the link you are looking for and give it to US the provider (Element 5). A bit outrageous.
I think pixologic must provided us with a direct link to the 64 bits version. And clarify this situation once for all with Element 5.
I mean give us the name of the file we need to receive, and its size, as well as correct the instructions at the start of this thread, the options suggested to follow on the phone are wrong as well. At least when you call germany.
I hope someone of Pixologic post something here and help us. If this is going be the same problem when ZBrush 3.0 goes out in 30 days from now. The lords of chaos helps us!!!
It is really sad that my first post here it is to complain!!
Best regards,
David
Well I called Element 5 customer support and got a link to the 64 bit version, which is the same link I get when I got the program yesterday. It’s a 10.5 meg executable named “ZBrush2R2.exe” and it’s running, so I guess I’m all set.
Still not sure if this is the 64bit version but hey at least I can work now.
I noticed this 64 bit version thing a bit late. I upgraded to Windows Vista 64-bit last week.
I sent Element5 e-mail, to adress i got from this thread. Only thing i’ve got so far is just an automatic reply. A week of waiting so far…
What i gathered from this thread, it might be that i might be waiting for quite a long time… seems like they (element5) don’t reply to e-mails very actively. Seems like the best option would be to call them - Something i wouldn’t like to do. I’m bit dissapointed with this element5 thing. i would like to try 64-bit zbrush 2, even if version 3 is out soon!
So is there any help available from Pixologic for this matter? Should i send e-mail to Aurick or something?
I guess i have to get new licence file if i’m going to format my old box, and install Zbrush 2 to new vista system…?
