ZB sketchbook - AJ Jefferies

I had the opportunity to take part in the wonderful Monster Project (http://www.gomonsterproject.com/) this year. If you’re not familiar with it, they collect a load of great monster drawings from kids and then artists can pick a monster and run with their take on it.

Here’s the awesome monster I picked

And here’s my take on it!

The monster was 90% modelling straight in Zbrush, then exported to 3ds Max where I added the chrome parts and rendered in V-Ray.

Thanks for looking!

Here’s a little sketchy thing I did just for fun. All expressions sculpted in ZB from the same mesh.

This is the Christmas card I made for our studio this year, I made the reindeer in ZBrush, so thought I’d share it here. Rendered in 3ds Max with V-Ray.

Here are a couple of illustrations I did at the beginning of the year as part of a campaign for a storage company. Really crazy deadline for them both, so perhaps not as polished or refined as I’d like but needless to say ZBrush was an incredible help! Final renders were done in 3ds Max with V-Ray.

And here’s the other one!

I should point out that his shoes/sneakers, basketball and teeth were stock models I bought in, as I had 5 days to turn this around and needed all the help I could get!

Haha they’re awesome! And only 5 days?! For both? That sounds brutal. Wonderfully sculpted feet on the wrestler, btw.

Thank you! I should qualify, I had 8 days on the Sumo and 5 on the Basketball player. Not that the short timing matters really, I’m just amazed that thanks to ZBrush I can get something like this done so quickly now.

Excellent work !:+1:

Amazing works AJ Jefferies, I like your style. Very well done!!!

cool models, really great anatomy and pose

Thanks guys! Much appreciated

It’s summer, so I made some ice cream!

IceCream_800.jpg

Ice cream scoops were sculpting in ZB, I used a couple of adjusted alphas of tree bark to get the pattern on the surface then just pulled around the rest. Rendered in 3ds Max with V-Ray.

I am a fan! :):+1:

AJ your work always makes me smile :D!

Took part in the fantastic Monster Project once again this year, such a ludicrously fun thing to be part of!

Here’s the kid’s sketch I picked:

Some crops:

Technical wise the modelling of the monster and the crane operator were 90% ZBrush and I used Fibermesh for the monster’s fur. Rendering was done in 3ds Max with V-Ray.

I also just got sent a photo of the original artist holding both pieces
