Yakuza (CCWS)

Kinda cool. Lighting shot from back is better than the front shot. The big guns like that actual detract from the character. A big Magnum 6 shooter might make it work, but it would stil be better as sorta small in his hand. The other hand should have a large custom made brass knuckle, hahahah. It’s just about balance. The character is quite well done, I like your stylization on the mesh. The wrist doodads gotta go.

Might I suggest the back shot, twist the body around a bit leave feet with a little knee flex and bring the head around as well and more than torso. This would give you a slight motion pose and convey some of his mass, catch the light and if the face had even a little expression and head titled a little to a side, would punch this up several notches. I’ll leave you to the details if this makes sense for you, but statue presentation that is utilized by so many just leaves so much out from the hard work done, especially on this character.

@ Jason Belec

Hey, there.

Love the idea with the brass knuckle and thx a lot for your suggestions about how to pose a character correctly.

Use no way as a way!

No, seriously I actually used both methods. Mainly I imagined how the part I was about to flatten/pinch would look like if I had built it in maya with a small amount of polygons and using hard normals. But I also had situations where I just let me lead, what would simply look best. For instance I flattened/pinched 3 different versions for the hands. They really drove me crazy.

Nice model and nice first post;)

One last update for the Yakuza.

looks really good - i like the stylized and clean look he has

great work, i like your style

love the work youve done! how did you go about creating the wraparound tat?

If you mean the tattoo, I simply used ZBrush’s Projection Master and Photoshop.

I loaded the final version with layed out uv's of the Yakuza into ZBrush. Next I assigned him a new texture and via Projection Master I defined the outline of the tattoo. Hope I could help ; )
