This is my first ever attemt at Z-brush. I’m trying to make one of my favorie actors ever, William Shatner, spesificly him as Denny Crane from Boston legal. I’m about 4 hours into this and was wondering if I could get some crits before I continue.
Lookin’ good lookin’ good,
I see a few areas that may need some quick touchups to fit your reference photos a little better-I’ve attached a picture to try to help illustrate what I’m getting at.
-
the lower forehead seems a little too ‘bumpy’. From what I can see in the reference, this area is smoother. ( Blue circle, top picture )
-
Also, the eyebrow meets the nose in a nice arc ( green lines, top picture ) - The Zbrush version seems a bit too squared off.
-
The shape of the ear may need to be squished -> <- a bit ( bottom left )
-
And the nose area may look more natural from the side once the eye is tweaked (point 1)
Well on your way! Ps: If you decide to tackle the hair, give me some tips

hi maria@thecenter, welcome aboard , your character look really good as a start
, maybe the nostrils are too large as you refer to a model…
i wait for the details
Quick update, I think I’m ready to start using the paint tool and not just moving stuff.

Hair is tricky stuff.

It was suggested to me that backtracking and trying to get the underlying structure of the face closer to Mr. Shatner would produce better results. Here is my attempt at that.

Yes it is tricky getting the right expession. Which is a sort of segueway to where I post a link to Shatner doing rocket man which although old still captures something of the person.
Ah, Shatner! Cool to see him in CGI. No tips from me, only encouragement:
welcome, and keep going!
Hair is done-ish.

Is his hair removable … like in real life?
Keep it up! It’s coming along well! The top half of the head is starting to resemble him. But I think some more adjustments on the mouth and jaw area could be done.
