ZBrushCentral

Watch me work.

Hi, Boy I feels really wierd posting when people know who I am now. I liked posting as just plain old monstermaker. I guess those days are over.
As monstermaker I could, and did, post just any old crap but as Rick Baker that’s a different story. Anyways the reason the monster came out of the closet is Jaime at Pixologic asked me if he could print up some of my ZBrush work and have me sign it at Siggraph. I said yes because I truely love this app and want to do all I can to support it. I didn’t feel that I had anything worthy of printing and all of the stuff that I have posted has been small so I did this. So a printed more finished version of this Image will be given away at siggraph and I hope to see some of you there to put a face to the names that I got to know on this forum.
Thank you everyone for the kind words and stars for the old monstermaker they really mean a lot to me especially when I was just monstermaker it is nice to know that people appreciate your work. Which brings up a point, I see a lot of posts where people say that the work is great and should be on the top row yet they don’t give the guy any stars. What’s up with that. Give the guy some stars, like Bas’s latest work several posts about I can’t believe this isn’t on the top row and I check and no one has rated his thread. I did and I hope it helps him get up there . Anyways enough ramblings from this old guy and hope to see you at Siggraph.

hey, whats in a name! “except yours is really well known! lol”
skill is skill, and you sir have ton’s, and its been a pleasure to watch you work monstermaker.

J.B.

It’s been cool watching you apply your talents to this new medium, Rick. Incredible work.

Dont worry monster! We wont change our way of being, even if you are a star.

We’ll remain as hard as we has ever been:lol:

Thats true that some guys should need some stars or sould be on the top.
Sometime I even wonder if its a so good idea to put stars… But, for me, I use the last updated files, instead of stars or top pics, so I can keep a look on every post pic.
Just something tht would be cool (dunno if its possible), it woul be cool to have an arrow to scroll in the previous uploaded pics, like an History…

Its cool to have a profesionnal of the fx industry, you could be abled to give us advises to work in this industry…

Infortunatly, I cant go to siggraph… But I hope one day I could meet all the zbrush community, to put a face on guys I consider as friends without ever seen any…

Hi again, This is a more cleaned up image ,I fixed some of the funky shadows and stuff.
Dickie, I used your finster skin shader, you should have recognized it, I messed with it a bit but that’s what I started with.
Again thanks everyone it’s been 7 months almost to the day since I did my first ZBrush model. I’ve had a lot of fun in the last 7 months with this app.
For those who sent me private messages I 'll answer them eventually but right now I’m going to see Charlie and the chocolate factory

i admire your art very much, and most of all your modesty. keep up the great work vivien :sunglasses:

man…I’m sorry if I bothered you with some e-mails, now I understand that you are a very busy person !! :grimacing: :grimacing:

thx for takeing the time to comment some of my pieces, it is an honor

Rick:

I did recognize it, that’s why I asked. I just wanted to see if it was indeed the one I posted…
I still use this one as my primary skin shader also. It’s pretty versatile if it’s lit right. Sometimes it can be too waxy, but I still like the feel of it. I’m glad that in my own small way, I got to contribute to your work. I’ve learned a ton of technique from you, so it’s great to know I passed some knowledge on…
That’s why this is the best forum out there, a feeling of community. Almost like a family…:+1:

Dickie

nice work… I like a lot the skin of the face and I’m a total worshipper of the left hand… :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Truely AWESOME Monstermaker/ Rick!!!

Hi Monstermaker,

Man, your work is great and always eyecandy. You are a great sculptor and if you work a little more in your shaders and light your work will look even more impressive! Congratulations for another great piece :+1:

Now Rick

Man!!! I’m another HUGE fan of yours man!
Hahahahahahahahaha. This was the surprise of the year. I know your work since I was a kid and I always had a dream to work with make up for movies, creating monsters, buying a lot of magazines with your stuff as constant inspiration, watching movies and movies with your work on it. That was a great surprise for sure but more than this, I’m VERY happy to see you trying digital tools and proving that art is part of the mind, hands and heart and CG for a real artist is just another media to express emotions and create great things.
Thanks a lot for share your work and nice tips with all the people here and for being so kind and opened to a new and great technology like ZBrush. I hope you continue posting. Will be our honor, that’s for sure :+1:

Take care and keep rocking,
Kris

ps.: I think will be better if everybody continue calling you monstermaker and helping with the feedback you are looking for

Monstermaker,

You’re work has always been a complete inspiration here at ZBC. Just because you’re anonymity has vanished doesn’t mean your work has to vanish from these forums as well. Please keep’em comin’! The progression of your work in ZB is simply amazing. Thanks for sharing your insights and techniques.

All the best!

Jim
