Volcano Puffing

This is a shot I took of the Active volcano on the island of Montserrat. It appears as if it decided to put on a small display for me, as it started puffing and ashing soon after I arrived. Just enough ash to remind everyone that it was still very much alive.
More shots will follow as I sort myself out. Sorry for the size. If it is too large I will reduce it. Please let me know!
DeeVee.

Gosh, I’ve been wondering where you went! You must have let everone know, and I missed it somehow. Glad to see you back, I was worried, quite frankly.

The volcano is beautiful! I’ve never seen one in person.

Amazing…
I hope it’s moving the other way from your place, Joe…

Unfortunately SC, the dome that is growing presently is on the side where my main property is. It is already 40 meters higher than it has ever been. The fear is that when it collapses the resulting pyroclastic flows will be in the direction of my property. I have already lost four properties in the capital Plymouth. It is enough to drive some people mad.

I’m really sorry to hear that Joe…
I remember when this volcano starting eating the island and it saddened me then, but it saddens me even more when I can put a personal face on it. Plymouth is pretty well buried as I remember…How much of the island remains unthreatened by this?

Joe the image is both stunning, scary and beautiful…and I like that large size…I am also sorry to hear about the loss…truly :frowning:

To give you an idea of what has happened. I am posting one of several I have of Plymouth so that you can see some of the damage done.
The main image is a 5 story building! You can see that the ash is up to the third story. Heat has blown out all the windows. Any single or two story houses are buried.
The Belham river devides the island. No one lives South of the river. You are only allowed to go into some areas between six and six. The North of the island is fairly safe but it still gets ash falls.
This image was taken by Eddie Edgecombe a friend of mine, who went into Plymouth with scientists in early September.

Sorry to hear about this, Dr. Joe – I also wondered about the sudden drop in postings – thought maybe you had just gone on a cruise

Beautiful picture of the volcano DeeVee…It looks like it could be a Zpainting. It is a shame that you experienced so much devastation because of the volcano…Nature is a very powerful force. Will you rebuild or is it not practical?

Rebuilding in the restricted area will not be allowed for quite some time.
The property I lost were rental property in the capital. My home, which is in the hills is still intact, but all the utilities have all been destroyed. Plus, it is in the restricted area, so I am not even allowed to go there at this time of impending dome break off and the resulting pyroclastic flows.
The images below shows Plymouth before the volcano, the other after the start of activity and the third shows the formation of new land. This process is repeated on most of the Southern and Eastern areas of the island.
I hope you find this interesting as it is not often that we get a chance to witness the formation of land by nature.
