One of the things on my wish list for 1.5 was the inclusion of a spell checker. This was not done. However, I went to another site and they are using a spellchecker from the site below. I was wondering how much effort it would take to have something like this is ZBrush?
Recently, I have been writing my text in Publisher and pasting it in ZBrush. This method works well, but having it in Z would be a lot better

I agree it would be cool if there was a sort of spell check, but it seems like an unreasonable request to me, just something to make ZBrush take up more room and run slower.
I can not think of any good reason to put a spell checker in ZBrush.
Why do you word process in Publisher?
What would the spell checker be used for? ZBrush does not even have text capability, and all of the scripts are automatically written (recorded). I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, I just can’t figure out what the need would be. Is there something in ZBrush that I have not discovered yet?
I think Joe is perhaps wanting a spell checker for posting purposes on ZBC?
I could understand members not agreeing to a spell checker if everyone on this forum could spell correctly :ex: To tell you the truth sometimes it is like reading a foreign language. I thought those who are bad spellers would welcome a spell checker, that is all. I really do not care one way or the other, but the way someone spells says a lot about them! TIMHO.
DeeVee,
Joe.
Oh!!! You are talking about ZBC! I thought you meant a spellchecker for ZBrush. I guess we can add a “reading checker” to that list, since I obviously missed the entire point. Just going by your question, mentioning the 1.5 release and saying “ZBrush” instead of ZBrush Central, I got “cornfused”. I think you may be on to something, Joe. A spellchecker might be a decent idea. Thanks for clearing that up (I’m sure you can see my confusion, now that you know what I was thinking you meant). LOL! Anyway, this is why Momma always told me to mind my own business.
It happens to all of us Slosh, do not feel anyway. The post was intended to generate some dialog and it did that.
Joe
I also don’t see the need for a spell-checker in ZBrush. Even something pertinent like some kind of 3d-object-thesaurus would probably be better as an optional plugin or zscript.
As for ZBC, I agree with DeeVee that good, standard spelling can be important for presenting oneself well … in that case though, I think it should be up to the writer to use whatever means to give that impression (if they wish), rather than the people who run ZBC … as a guy from the before-time, my spell-checker is in my brains and fingers with an occasional resort to a paper dictionary.
On the other hand (and not meant as a rebuttal), I enjoy the hurly-burly of a language in flux, with creative and inadvertent misspellings, rearrangements and fresh juxtapositions.

Eye think a spell chequer is a grate idea!
kaz
Kaz you are too funny!
I really did not expect this reaction to this suggestion.
Joe.
great idea!!! I know that on our irc chats that many of our french friends, though while doing a great job of translating, could truly benefit as well with a spell checker option. I believe they use some type of google translator or something. I am not clear on the specifics but this sounds like a great thing for the forum in general. Great idea Joe!!
Thanks for your support Ron. As some members might not be aware, their text can be typed and edited in any word processor and then pasted into the program. I get confused also. When I am communication with my English or Canadian friends I use the English spelling, when others I use the American way and sometimes I use both at the same time depending on my mood.
But as I said before, it is no big thing, if folks are happy with the present setup let it remain as it is.
Hey Joe,
I think there was confusion over a spellchecker for ZBrush or ZBrushCentral. Which brings up some interesting points, at least to me…
I think this forum should have a spell checker. God knows I need one. If I think about it, I will use a Word Process to check my posts.
But what I find interesting is the way you blurred the line between the application and this forum, intentional or not. It’s like saying that this forum is a part of ZBrush. Maybe that is just how you see it. Perhaps it should be viewed that way. I see it that way myself. But that way of thinking is a glimpse into what some of the big guys are working on with colaboration software.
Imagine working on an image in Z, and bringing up a chat window to ask a question to others that may be monitoring. If it is within Z, it is possible to do application sharing where someone could possibly show you your answer right there. This is possible now, but you would have to use other software, like Netmeeting.
Of course, that would make Z fatter, needing more resources and support. Another thing that could break. And why add that functionality when you would rather see jpg export…
Now I’m just rambling. Sorry. I just found the concept interesting…
