Some work - and new dvd

Yea, apparently there have been problems with the production.

I’m not gonna throw any dates out there this time lol… Lets just hope it gets released soon.

Thanks again for all the positive comments :sunglasses:

Womball: I cover Photoshope, Bodypaint, and Zbrush as texture tools. I personally use Deep Paint as well, and am looking forward to adding Mudbox to the list.

It’s such a shame righthemisphere let it go

Finally.

I just tried to buy the digital download, and it didnt give me any of the files to download…is anyone else getting this problem?

Well it seems it has been released…

The shader featured in the DVD will also be available, here is an image showing a few passes: [<!---->]![geo_passes_small.jpg|1200x876](upload://pTAsaDzlyyRniN9SL5O17OxkOMe.jpeg)

The shader is called The Nexus. It is a Mental Ray framebuffer shader made for artists. On release, this shader will easily become the most used MR shader for those looking to composite. Maya Master Nominee Chad Dombrova is the author of this shader, and he has done an amazing job on this package, which also includes some other nifty enhancements to Maya involving the framebuffer workflow. Chad, along with his current employer, Luma Pictures, are releasing this shader (Officially titled Luma Nexus) free to the community. So when this is released (very soon), please consider the generosity and hard work these guys put into this awesome piece of software, and put it to good use!

man this is really awesome thanks for doing the tutrial and cant wait to get my hands on that shader.

Yes, same here! Support team sent me a new download link, but this one didn’t work either.

Fantastic work… the Underworld hand is ridiculous!

The DVD shipping will start monday the 8th september. I guess we’ll have to wait for the download til the 8th too.

That’s all well and good however the email says: “You have 48 hours to complete your download. This order’s downloads expire on September 6, 2008.”

My second guess is that they still haven’t solved the problems they are facing (they shifted the relase date 4 times before) and that they just put the DVD on their site to avoid changing the relase another time and to put oil on troubled waters. Now they buy time with this new problem. Just my guess though.

Anyway, we shouldn’t flood this thread as the poster seams to have no influence over what happens with the DVD. This is more a discussion for the Gnomon Forum

I’m looking over the chapters and it looks like mostly Maya which I don’t use. Could you break down chapters 4 and 8 a little in depth for us please. I was hoping to see the programs you listed above. I was hoping they were the focus but now I’m wondering how much there is?

Its all good now people, Im downloading the vids as I type this. All those interested can make your purchases now.

It would be nice to be able to just purchase chapters 4 and 8 :bulb:

I just purchased this dvd in download format and it is just amazing. I’m leanring so much from it and can’t wait to get my hands on the shader. You guys did an outstanding job and I’m very grateful for all the hard work. Thanks a million

Thanks a bunch

And to everyone wondering about the shader, it will be available to the public September 8th for download, same as shipping date for the DVD. It’s gonna rock! For those that can’t wait a day or two, you can apply the same concepts using ctrl.buffer shader (or any other framebuffer shader), although the Nexus is far superiorer!!
