see what happens when you go to a users meeting

like every times you are amazing
i hope pixologic and gnomon decide to do a zbrush user metteing in europe and not only in usa…
anyone did some video of meetings?

looks awsome!!! if not for school i would love to attend one of those meetings, it definately have a giger look, but much more organic  5 stars!

about resolution limits…
uhhm, an idea, but i think there are here people more preparated than me, then i hope correct me if i tell wrong.
i usually save script when i finish my zbrush working, then i think that is possible to edit it to start with a lager canvas than original and repeat all action in a larger canvas.
i know is very simple idea, and i know that there are a lot of variables, but could possible?
anyone of great script maker can do a enlarger that load script of work and adjust for larger canvas?

very cool rick…
looks like the gnarled trunk of some ancient tree.
Wish I could’ve gone to the user meeting, was such short notice though and it was a late night in the freelance dungeon…
speaking of inspiring, I think I’ll go draw now!

Exactly I like:+1:

Wow an amazing model monstermaker. Your models just keep getting better and better which is nice to see and hope to see an even better model on your next post. 5 stars alround from me. Keep up the good work.:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Davlin, I would like to know what I am trying to tell you
Okay, I’ll try to explain what I felt while watching your painting. I don’t pretend I’m right or anything, it is just a feeling. Please excuse my lack of vocabulary !

First, I begun to see the colors. Brown, green, yellowish, they are cold and very unfriendly. They express something without live in it, something that is dusty, growing from mud, like roots in a cave or a basement.

Then, the light, coming from the top left, create some livid contrast, and areas of pure shadow. When I saw this, I thought about a light coming from an opened door, about to be closed, so it make the whole basement thing stronger. Like the colors, the light itself is not friendly.

I assumed there is some water because of the reflection. Then again, I thought about some creepy basement, like in the 80’s horror movies. Some water is slowly pouring into the concrete of a deserted old house, the roots of some trees are coming trought the ground to get some of that water… Time is slowly spend here, second after second, always the same, and during that time nothing is changing, no one ever intervene, it is just a very slow ( almost dead, I dare say ) moment of time.

Then, I begun to see what is looking like an human-shaped character, like a Jesus figure ( the head’s position, the roots with torns around the forehead, the whole position of that appears to be arms attached ), I then saw the very sad eyes, the particular position of the jaw, with lower teeth appearing, meaning some suffering.
I also noted that the roots are like they grow in and from the character, they are shaping him.

I slowly begun to picture what happen to this character… To me, he could have been a man that have been sacrificied, attached and then forgot in a basement… He died there, in pure darkness, alone apart madness, completely hopeless… And then, as time is slowly passing by, the roots, the plants are ā€œeatingā€ that man, taking everything that they could, and, by doing so, making him a figure that will stay like that forever, a shape of eternal suffering and sadness, something like " you won’t disappear, you’ll be forever a testimony ".
Until, one day, someone is finally going back to this basement, only to see this, and, perhaps, not even understand what happen long ago… Even worse ( because of the ligh ), to check if no one is alive anymore in there.

To conclude this little personnal explanation, I would say that, as far as I’m concerned, this painting leaves a mark of sadness, regrets, and ā€œsoftā€ horror to the viewer…
The fact that this picture is not clearly understandable is allowing the people to build their very own story about " that the artist wanted to say while painting it ", and all the elements in it ; Apart the art skills, I think that it is the best achievment, to make a piece of art that make people think about it.

Well, this is it, I hope my writing is understandable enough, and that those few lines were interesting ! :stuck_out_tongue:

Bye !

Wow Daviln, I’ll have to have you explain all of my work too me. I wish my vocabulary was as good as yours and english is my first and only language. As I said earlier This was basically done with no thought just goofing around but I think I’ll use your explanation from now on. I do like do work that can be taken different ways from different viewers and I like to do things that you have to look at for a while to see all of the little things in it, so I appreciate you actually looking at it. btw what you thought were lower teeth, I thought while painting it, was his lips being sewn shut, as are his eyes. But it’s hard to tell in this compressed image. anyways thanks for looking and thinking about this.

Abyssis, I figured you would like this. Thanks for your support on the cgtalk 2d gallery they don’t seem to like my 2d stuff very much there

Hey Davlin,if you have some free time go to the CGtalk 2d gallery and type in my name in the search thing and tell me what those paintings mean

Madrenderman, I like your idea about resolution limits,my problem is I always forget to mark or save things
3d55steven thanks as I have said before you stuff is cool!
thanks everyone
mm

Hey Monstermaker,

I’m happy that you have found my explanation interesting.
Thank you very much for your kind words regarding my writing, but my previous post is full of errors, quite a shame ! I’ll try to be more careful next time !

CGtalk ? Okay, I’m also a user there but I barely go outside the 3D forums… I promise nothing, but I’ll try to post some interesting thoughts about your work !

This was basically done with no thought just goofing around
To my opinion, this sentence of yours deserves to be discussed further, later, because very interesting stuff can be said 'bout that.

Bye !

Well, I enjoyed the evening. I love the style of your piece. I can see Giger as mentioned but a tint of Froud in there as well. I did a piece last year that was just amazing fun. Pretty much just one ZSphere model for 95% of the image. How cool is ZBrush these days!

BTW Fantastic to meet you Rick!

geee… Thats freakin nice…

Hey Glen, it was nice to meet you too. These are really cool I love them! Way to show me up ya bastard.
Hope the other meeting went well for you.
Next time you are in LA you have to come by my studio. Hope to see ya again soon.
mm

Hey Glen, nice work man! And nice to meet you there too

MM, see the ā€œsoft lookā€ on Glen’s works? That is what I was talking about
Even if you want something darker and not too soft or bright, you can tweak the GI light down and add a directional light to create some more dramatical effect. The GI look makes all the difference and your work, that’s already awesome, will be awesome x2

-Kris

Can I please say that I love these works. Now…let me say…I am totally perplexed and jealous. How did you create these? How did you get the vine look to these? Any light to shed on these. Maybe a directional light or tweak the GI a bit to soften the blow to my brain. Outstanding work as always. …sigh

Wow! Lots of respect for you Southern! Your work always inspires me, there is always something new to learn from your work.
I was wondering if you planning to make another Zbrush dvd in the future? Because, the get into zbrush dvd it’s always a great reference when starting a new project and would be nice to have you making another. I will be saving the money to buy it hehehe!
Ok, have a great day!

Javi.

Ok, I sharted this after dinner tonight and now I’m going to bed I’m probably going to work on it more tomorrow evening. And Kris I know its dark and not soft but then again so am I.
mm

LOL! Nah… this one looks pretty damn good MM!
The way you are going to comp this one with the other layers will define the final look…try to add some depth of field or fog or some shadows between layers or something that will define better the different layers of depth in your comp.

Great work so far! Waiting for updates :+1:
