Questions and Troubleshooting for Transpose Master

Hi everyone, i am having an issue with Transpose Mater. I sculpted and detailed my character in the standard T-Pose, then i began posing him using Transpose Master. Everything works fine while i’m posing the character, but when i transfer my posed mesh data back to my original-detailed-HiRes mesh, i loose all of the detail in the skin that i had. It transfers the actual pose to the mesh fine, but the fine skin detail i had, is smoothed over.

Anyone ever have that happen to them?

PLEASE HELP! :frowning:

So i’ve narrowed down the issue, but still not sure how to solve it. so after i pose the TPose mesh, i click TPose-SubT and this message appears:

"The Topology of the mesh has changed.

Press Yes to transfer the hi-res details to the modified mesh

Press NO to delete the hi-res details."

If i click YES, it doesnt transfer the details over to the hi-res mesh correctly, it poses the mesh right, but the detail is all messed up. if i click NO, obviously the details are deleted, and i don;t want that.

Now after troubleshooting all of my subTools, i found the subtool/mesh that is causing that message (the body of my character), the problem is, i don’t know why ZBrush thinks the Topology has changed when i didnt change anything but the pose, its the exact same mesh, i didnt even export it out as an obj. (although if i do, i get the same result) so why is ZBrush saying that the Topo has changed on the Body mesh?

I tested this out on the Demo Soldier, and it worked out great. Why not with my character?

Please help, i’m very frustrated.

Please Help

Sometimes polygons can get overlapped when you are posing and this causes the normals to be flipped when the pose is transferred. If that happens then you’ll get the result you describe.

Test out your model without posing at all to see if the problem occurs before you do some posing. If all is OK then the problem has been introduced by your posing. The simplest solution with a single problem subtool is to pose it separately after transferring in the main pose. You can isolate it from your posed mesh by Shift+Ctrl+clicking on the part twice to hide it.

yea, even if i don’t pose the mesh, i still get the Topo change message. really weird, cause i’m not doing anything but running Transpose Master. I don’t know where this went wrong. :frowning: guess i’ll have to pose everything manually. i don’t care for this Transpose Master tool.

Hello Deathdealer,
I use Zbrush alot. Transpose master is very useful. There are glitches but don’t throw away the baby with the bath water. Transpose master is a beautiful baby, it really is.

Things can get in the way, I don’t know all the reasons. But like every small problem in the world, CG related or not, just try to keep things simple. Follow the steps slowly, become Sherlock Holmes and use deduction. I’ve found that if I use simple meshes to begin with, things go well. As an artists my library is building all the time, and I am cleaning up meshes as I reuse them (like using the new export sliders), using the preview window and unify (deformations), etc. My library is strong like bull, and transpose master is a huge asset in Zbrush.

Good luck.

Thanks for the words of support and inspiration Brandon. I sat down last night and figured out very promising solution to my problem, so everything is back on track, and YES, it still involves using Transpose Master. It is a great tool, i was just a bit frustrated with it for a moment. All is well now
I’ll personally email you with the finished product when i’m finished, (if thats ok with you), again thanks for taking the time to comment on the issue. greatly appreciated.

M using Zbrush 4.0 and transpose master 4 with it. I have 9 subtools and when i hit Tpose Button…it starts lowering the geometry…but thn it gives an error…

Unable to create file “folder pathname/Tpose#1/neck123.dat”

and asks to sent pixologic a mail…when i hit cancel it works fine but its not saving any transpose pose i make.

Please help.

PS: My zbrush is installed in C:\ and it has 1.7 gb free space.

tarunisme,

Have you named any subtools with special characters in the names? It looks as though you have named a subtool using a slash ‘/’ or ‘’. This would account for the error.

Thnx Marcus, but the problem was solved when i saved the whole tool by a diff name…it was sum sort of name conflict.

Thnx neways

If anyone can answer this question it would be greatly appreciated.

I hit the TPoseMesh to make all of my subtools into one mesh. I posed my character. When I was saving incrementally when posing, the default folder was in the ZStartUp>ZPlugs>TPoseMaterData folder. So I saved it in there. I tested out the TPose>SubT button to make sure I would get my subtools back and it worked. I then started saving it on my portable hard drive. When I finished my pose I tried TPose>SubT again and it is not giving me my subtools back. It says: Please select action… Load file from disk or Cancel. I really hope I didn’t lose my work. Is there a solution to this. I tried saving it back into the TPoseMasterData folder and it’s still asking me to Load file from disk.

Thanks

ColeBot,

Which version of ZBrush are you using?

I resolved the issue :D. Thanks anyways marcus.

Hi frnds ,when i work on one subtool that time i face a problem that it does not work(traspose master,Tpose mesh)…so how can i use on single subtool on Tpose mesh.please please reply.:question:small_orange_diamond:question:

Hi all…I’m having a problem with Tpose and I didn’t see the message I’m getting earlier in the thread, so if it has been addressed before, I apologize.

Everything appears to work fine until I press TPose>SubT. As it goes through and reverts back to the original model, the following message pops up on one of the subtools (the main body in this case):

“No matching data: SubTool X skipped”

Then it completes the rest, and puts me back into “normal” mode. At this point, the pose has been applied to the fingernail subtools, but not the main body that the message said it skipped.

What causes this?

That will happen if you have tools masked, that might be it.

I thought about that, so I went to each subtool and hit clear mask just to make sure there was absolutely no masking left before I entered TPose, and then I hit clear mask once again once I was done posing the TPose mesh and before I hit TPose>SubT. It still happened. :frowning:

GoofyFoot,

Have you renamed the subtool? (ZBrush will do this automatically in some operations, like cloning.) Transpose Master users the subtool names and will skip any it doesn’t have a reference for.

I’m not sure I follow…Do you mean renaming it after I hit TPoseMesh? No.

The names of the subtools prior to hitting TPoseMesh are as follows (and in order):

FemmeZombie *
femmeZombie **
lowerteeth_tongue_2
upperteeth_2
zombiedress
nails
PM3D_Sphereinder3D

  • These are the eyes
** This is the body, and the part that is not posing properly when I hit the TPose>SubT button.

Could the similarity in the first two subtool names be causing the problem? Should I change the name of the eyes, and try it again?

That was the problem. I went ahead and renamed the eyes, and things worked beautifully!

Thanks! It never even occured to me to look at the subtool names! DOH!

That’s great. Glad you got it sorted. Thanks for mentioning this though - it highlights a situation which I thought I had coded to avoid - duplicate subtool names. If the names are exactly the same then one will be renamed automatically but obviously this fails if there’s a case difference.
