Oh, oops. Sorry Mulvo!
I just found it myself for the first time this weekend. If only I had listened to you.

If any of you peoples are needing access to over 12 million images, this is the place
Image Analogies Software
This is an interesting advance in the world of art:
Software has been developed that will filter images to look as they were done in the style of other images, but you have to see to believe the detail that is gotten from the filtering process. Apparantly, a single filter takes hours to run on a 1 gHz machine with 700M of RAM!!

These examples are amazing:

(I love the absurdity in the last waterfall image)
Note that:
A Filtered = the original image source.
A Unfiltered = this is drawn by the artist and creates an analogy to A Filtered. It’s amazing how simple this can be!
B Unfiltered = this is drawn in the same style as A Unfiltered to finish the analogy
B Filtered = this is the final filtered image which was created by the computer.
This software is free, so you can play around with it. It’s also open source, if any programmers want to try to improve it. It’s available for Windows or Unix.
Getting the software to work is somewhat complex…
I hope to run a filter over the weekend using a ZBrush image as the original source. Does anyone have a suggestion for which image I should use as the source? Would anyone be interested in seeing the result posted here?

I put this at a 10 on the superneatobandito scale Zuzu, I can’t wait to play around with this.
I for one would love an example done by you, as for which one, my vote is for you to suprise us.
this is absolutely fantastico hot stuff, ZuZu! thank you! (though it is - argh - another disadvantage of mac-ianism! ) i suppose you filter a pic of your own (as i am really curious to zee some ZuZu-art here - or have i just missed it?)
editors note: ola, Digits! looks like almost same time, same idea, amigo!
so: i support Digits’ proposition, ZuZu!
I have a question for anybody who has downloaded this program ( Image Analogies )- I downloaded it a little while ago “lf.tar.gz” & when I attempted to decompress the file, using “WinZip”, it came up with another file called “lf.tar.gz”, & when I attempt to decompress this file it gives me the error message ( Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid file. ) Has anyone else downloaded this file & had success decompressing it completely?
I’ll check back a little later to read responses.
Thanks in advance & have a good one . . . Mark.
PS: ( Using “WinZip” ver. 8.0 )
Kruzr,
I unzipped it using Winzip 8 and had no problems…
My suggestion would be to try using Stuffit or another decompression utility.

Hi ZUZU . . .
I think I know what’s wrong? I went back to the site to download it again, & as I read a little more throughly, I saw that it is written for “Windows 2000” not Windows 98.
So I guess I won’t be trying it out after all! Maybe they feel that Windows 98 is not powerful enough to use it on?
Thanks anyway & have a good one . . . Mark.
I am using WinZip 7 and had no trouble on Win98, at least for unzipping. Getting it to run, well that’s another story…
I usually like using Stuffit for unzipping, but it did not handle this one very well, so I right dragged the file to a new folder and choose to unzip it to another directory, where WinZip kicked in and took over.
Perhaps its not worth the trouble if its not going to work on 98, but I will give it a shot and let you know…

Kruzr, in Winzip, make sure you are in “Winzip classic” mode. Mine told me this automaticly… :qu:
Cool link ZuZu.
Excellent site, Dragon!
Hi Nikko. Cool. I found it wild and just thought I’d share it.
If anyone is looking for a FREE vector drawing program, I found one here
The amazing thing of it is that it is only 37K bytes! I haven’t really tried it yet, but I use Flash alot of times to draw Alpha cutouts for Zbrush and Bryce and you can’t beat the price of this one with a stick!
That’s me… no, that one… or maybe that one…no, it’s that one with a bit of that one thrown in. Yes it’s the flame warriors
I also like doug allen his comics are excellently drawn and this is a well produced site
I have been awed by the work of McF on renderosity. Thought you might want to take a peek.
All I can say is Wow!
Juandel, that is one COOL site! Jim Warren’s art is outstanding and imaginative. Thank you for the link!
