polygroups act strange in zmodeller?

Hi,

Trying to create polygroups while using zmodeler but somehow it doesn’t work. I can ctrl+shift click a part, it does create a polygroup but when I try to further cut another piece out from it, it just refuses to do it.
Anyone experienced such an anomaly?
Cheers.

All I can guess is that your model is masked. You know how to use ZBrush? Some reading might be required.

yes I know how to use zbrush and it is nothing to do with masking or me reading the manual.
It is an anomaly and I am simply asking whether anyone has experienced such a thing or not…

Mac OS or Windows ? The way you describe it sounds like you may not be clear on procedures or understand what is happening…

Post screenshot/s and describe in step by step. I’m not sure what you’re saying when you say ‘cut another piece from it’.

Actually ZModeler does do things oddly, but you should still be able to hide parts of your object (using Control Shift) and then in the PolyGroup Palette use Group Visible or something like that.

but when I try to further cut another piece out from it, it just refuses to do it.

That has me stumped and at least one other person.

Ok…
If you hide stuff using Control Shift, you can keep hiding bits by holding Alt as well as control and Shift.
This works for both Select Rect and Select Lasso.

To directly create PolyGroups with ZModeler Brush you would also use Alt, but its different:
Use, for example Extrude, and as you are extruding tap on the Alt key and you will see the polygroup change for each time you do so. Its a VERY handy feature.

While using ZModeler you might notice some areas that LOOK like PolyGroups but are not, I think they are usually only seen in Dynamic Subdivision mode but Im not totally sure about that.

Thank you guys but I think MealeaYing got what I’m on about.

Yes, you are right, some parts DO look like polygroups and are not. That’s what I figured and you are also right about the Dynamic Subdivision mode as well. That completely threw me off. While using other brushes, polygroups act like they are supposed to but when on Zmodeler, things are not what they seem as far as the polygroups are concerned.
I am glad I am not the only person who noticed/experienced this, what I dare to call, a glitch.

Thank you all for your input, you all have been very helpful and your time is much appreciated.

Cheers.

You’re welcome. I wouldn’t call it a glitch. Maybe holding the hammer wrong or the wrong hammer?
