It was it (see the first post) ! But was renamed “all…” because it does not exist such section in this forum !

HI!
I have a question that nobody gave me an answer and I thought it would be a good opportunity to ask it here:D
Which is the [color=Black]BEST low-poly 3D software? I am new to 3D graphics and I started with “Milkshape 3D”
After that Bryce took my attention, and ZBrush was like a kind of revelation and now I want to learn something that has a future in game industry and many others.
I dont want you to mis-understand me. I know ZBrush is the best software in the whole :grimacing: world but what I am asking is about low poly software :) An amazing thing was that I watched a tutorial in wich someone made a base polymesh in Maya exported it in ZBrush made a lot of details and textured it. After that he exported the bump map, texture and some other ...maps wich I dont now what they are:D.
(sorry for my bad English)
Please help me:roll_eyes:small_orange_diamond:laughing:
Thank you and … Keep walking…

Wings3D and it’s free

Thank you Pilou!

Keep walking…

Trying to help other guy here in the forum i made this brief head modelling session from zsphere 368 base mesh up to 94208 poly then you can make bump and displacement map…normal map…
just an example…

Andreseloy

ps: other than Frenchy say you is Silo(109$) but have to wait a very more stable version…Hexagon 2.1 (1.99$) if you have the adequate requeriment machine configuration

Thank you andreseloy
Silo is cool, i`ve heard about it before.

Keep walking…

Wings is good but if you want to do polygon by polygon modeling Silo or Modo would be your best bet since Wings can’t have single polygons, only box modeling.

Silo if you want to model…modo if you want to do everything

Silo is the only app I was able to sit down and do something useful right out of the box without getting a headache.

Frenchy would kill me if I didn’t mention MOI for modeling.

Sure Moi (Moment of Inspiration ) is the more easy modeler but at the beginning it’s not a “Polygon” builder for organic modeling
Of course at the end you can transform the nurbs objects in Polygons with it terrific Import Obj system adjustable

My vote goes to Silo. Very easy to pick up with robust tools that even I can make sense of.

Version 1.42 is extremely stable (I have a PC so I can`t comment on the Mac version)

Version 2, whilst still in beta, looks very promising. This will be a free upgrade if you buy v1.42 now

Thank you for your help
What do you think about Maya and 3DS Max? :o

Keep walking…

Not much else to say than stay away from maya and go for max

Of the 2 I would go with 3ds Max (I never quite got the hang of Maya), but it is quite bloated for a low poly modeller and an expensive option if that`s all you want it for. At $109 Silo is a great choice and they do have a trial version you can download here: http://www.nevercenter.com/downloads/download_silo/ and there is a mostly friendly user forum here: http://www.silo3d.com/forum/

Yes, Im very much a Silo fan and cant recommend it highly enough

If you are just starting, Wings 3d is “the best.” Not for any technical reasons or because of features, but because it is free, and if after a few months of learning about modeling and 3d you decide that you don’t like it, then you have not thrown any money away.

Thank you so much guys!
But if it is to work in game design industry and you go there and say:
YOU: "Hi! I want to work at Ubisoft as a 3D modeler! :o "
THEM: “What software do you know how to use?”
YOU: "ZBrush(or any 3D software you like and use ) "
THEM: "Sorry, we use … 3D software. Good bye! "

Please tell me [color=Black]WHAT TO DO?!

Thanks

It’s what you can do with the tool, not what tool you know. You can achieve the SAME low res modeling results with Maya, MNax, XSI, MOdo, Silo, Wings3d. It’s your talent and your acievements. Not which application you know. Besides that, once you know one app, it takes very little time to get used to another as the underlying principles are the same. You can even box model VERY nice stuff in ZBrush. So, go and start with Wings3d. Make some cool stuff with it and ZBrush. If you cannot come up with cool stuff, then you are out of luck anyways and saved yourself a lot of money. There is no Monster button in any app. It has to be in your mind. And then… it really doesn’t matter what you use.
Cheers

Thank you so much lemonnado and other ZBrushers here!
I`m so happy! (very very very very very very HAPPY! )

Once you learn to model in the free program, and if you decide that you like it. Then you might want to invest in other programs if you think it will help you get a job.
