nemickol - I forgot to answer your question about the skull detail.

For the Skull
#1 I’m glad I used 3D layers on this one, it helped out a lot. I used one layer for the over all indetations, one for the cracks, and 3 others for different random damage.

#2 as far as the “even distribution” your talking about, I used an alpha I got off of “undoz’s Sketchbook” thread. Its apparently an orange skin that works really well for pores too. You can find it here : http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=64122&highlight=orange

  • hard to find so enjoy.

Thanks again for the comments, I’m not done yet. More to come!

OK! Here’s the finished version, unless people have any other comments about things needing to be fixed.

Again, please leave comments and critiques. I’m all about working hard and taking suggestions.

Hey man,

Absolutely love it.

Maybe it would add some more to the piece if you continued with the collar bones and a bit of he chest.

definitely needs hints of the collarbone. Also if the goal is realism, the neck is too thin and the jaw could probably be wider. I think the nose would be wider and broader if this is a native american. Great sculpting and mastery of the zbrush tools. Which brushes do you favor while sculpting and how did you do the great rope detail on the cloak?

You’ve done an amazing job on that, it looks really cool. As far as critiques go, with the exception of the teeth, you seem to have hit the reference bag on, but the neck on the reference seems strange to me. If you look at how old and weatherbeaten the face and cheeks are, it seems strange to me that the neck would be so smooth. Older people’s necks are usually the dead give away that they are old, it’s the one place that all the makeup in the world can’t hide!

Beautiful job!

fox1983 - Thanx for the compliment
monteford2002 - Thx too. As far as me and brushes go. I love using the CLAY TUBES for building up layers then smoothing them out. I’m also a huge fan of the DAM STANDARD brush. If you don’t have it, you gotta get it. Those are my favorites. I’ll use INFLATE for to bush and pull skin.
seanforsyth - I kinda agree with you on the teeth, I used a cone thinking its was a good idea. Didn’t realize it would pinch so much.

As far as the neck! Due to the fact that I’m working off of a reference image, and the original creator didn’t work on the neck either, I’m conlicted as to whether to add to the neck or to go with the orginal reference’s level of completeion. Consider it fading off in to clay.

What does everyone else think?
