Hello all!
This weekend I had a friend visiting me from Slovakia, and we went hiking in Zion National Park (which is about 2 1/2 hours from Las Vegas). I thought that you might enjoy seeing both some of the scenery and the kinds of insane things that I enjoy doing in my spare time.
Please forgive the download time. I wanted you to be able to actually see this awesome scenery.
This first image is as we started the climb up Angel’s Landing, which is a promontory that juts out into the middle of the canyon. At this point, we’re about 300 feet above the canyon floor, with another 900 feet to climb.

At this point, we’re about 900 feet above the canyon floor, looking up at Angel’s Landing in front of us. The last half mile here is pretty scary, as you’ll see.

As we started our way across the land bridge, we came level with some climbers who were heading up the face the hard way. It took them about a day to get to that point, and they were starting to get ready to make camp for the night (sleeping suspended from the side of the cliff). They’ll finish the climb today. There are actually three of them at the very center of the circle, which should give you an idea of scale. You can also see a bit of the knife’s edge that we were about to hike across. Some of the places had 600’ vertical cliffs on one side, 900’ on the other, with only two to three feet between them for us to walk.

These next two are from the top of Angels Landing, looking north and south along the canyon. Absolutely incredible views; well worth the climb!

Still at the top, a pic of yours truly with the Great White Throne in the background. Well, the top half of it, anyway…

And last of all, a picture looking back down at the knife’s edge, as we started back. There are people in the picture, if you can find them (just look for little oddly-colored dots), and you can see the trail in the distance once it gets off the rocks again. By the way, I forgot to mention that I’m afraid of heights…

And that was the big part of our trip to Zion! Hope you enjoyed the pics a bit. The Desert Southwest has a beauty all it’s own, and I have to say that it’s a lot of fun living in this part of the world.
Thank you so much for sharing a portion of your adventure with us. I love these type of pics…Do you do any rock climbing and rapelling of your own? Though I have never done rock climbing to the extent as those demonstrated in you pics, I did do alot of rapelling in the army…loved it…
