Another shot at live sculpting. One fifteen minute and three twenties. I really need to sit down and figure this one out. The new features of R2 with insertmesh and quadpolycurve have to be able to fascilitate something like speed sculpting.

Really excited to start a new month of dailies focused on anatomy.

Tried to get my new years resolution of another sculpt a day going, but I’m a little behind schedule. So far just these three. I’m addicted to light cap, although its a little buggy at times. I love good studio lighting and its just so quick and convenient. I’ve also started to get a handle on dynamesh. its funny how different tools can totally change your workflow.

My favorite of these is definitely the axe monster. I finally got the hang of working with subtools and everything that goes with it, remeshing, extracting and everything else. Still a lot to learn and work on, but I’m feeling pretty good about 2012.

Woke up the next day and wished I’d made the eye sockets bigger, and aligned the lower jaw better. BUT! I did learn a lot about BPR and material settings.day4Skull.jpg

just a real quick edit

Thanks Pabgo.

Last night’s efforts. I’ll admit to being a little intimidated by cloth. I didn’t intend to spend 3 hours on this, but I got sucked into it.mpaquiMage.jpg

Started in on a skeleton for this, then realized I was in over my head.

Been wanting to do something toothy for a while. Good practice with insert mesh brush.

Anatomy study sans model. I was probably thinking about Bane’s back while I was doing this. Got to a certain point and put the anatomy book on my lap to help fill in a few blanks.toughGuyWeb.jpg

hey there! great start man! his head is a bit flat and too big for that body. neck is also way to thick because of the head.

Thanks Bomoh. I wasn’t paying too much attention to the head.

This one was left blocky on purpose:) I was thinking of something like a Twilight Zone episode, wondering what happened to his hands and his head.

Finally got around to checking out Diablo 3. Inspired a kind of beast sculpt. Had some lion anatomy reference on my lap for this one. The proportions are obviously not lion, but I just wanted to practice some ecorche.

Hurrican Sandy personified. #hype

hahah! liking the hurrican dude! you have some good movement going on in the sculpt. What happens when Sandy meets his buddy Frankenstorm?

******* Barrel Zombie.

That’s so weird. ZBC wouldn’t let me say C R A C K E R Barrel Zombie.

Sketch dump from the last four days.

3 of them I like. The aliens, not so much. What I learned from them was this: Give it a half hour, focus on the silhouette, if it still doesn’t work then dump it and try something else. It was really an exercise in trying to use the insert curve tube with dynamesh to build out a whole character. For some reason I still prefer ZSpheres. Even ZSketch is still fun. Oh well.

Had a little reference to work from. I like it.

Kind of wish this had turned out better. I had one picture I was using as reference, and then my own knowledge of anatomy. Still working at it I guess.

Well, I missed this interesting thread.
Very nice studies here!
There’s a great shader for your antiq bronze artifacts.

A big upload today. The lava monsters are WIP for a contest over at the Gnomon forums. I can tell myself I’m a procrastinator and never enter contests, but I can admit I’m usually just intimidated. I have a month to keep refining his design and presentation so I’m looking forward to seeing how he flows.
