moons

The moon is a wonderful feminine symbol - anyone looked at the moon lately???

this is what it looks like here, now:

or are you talking about Io?

Anyone looked at the moon through a telescope lately?

… haven’t had a telescope since I was a boy, but I can remember the awe I felt.

Might have to get another telescope …

I dunno about feminine…but put a females body silloetted against the moon and there is something sensually erotic about that to me…and due to this post I went out last night and looked at the moon…like the image above it was slightly obscured by clouds, but it broke thru in all it’s glory every few minutes as the cloud banks shifted along…thnx for making me stop and take the time to “smell the roses”…it was worth it :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hey that’s great Kaz, it looks like a painting. Yes I did mean the good old earths’ moon
Chris, I have looked at the moon through my binoculars x 10 mag and it is terrific I look as often as I remember- It is always a pleasure to see the craters and the shadow/ dark side of the moon ( cant help hearing the Pink floyd song )

I’m glad people still look at the moon. Would be great to be able to look at the sun safely ??? Can it be done??

Yes, you can look at the sun, but you need a special filter for it. Not sure if there are Binocular filters, but maybe so. I have also seen the sun projected from a telescope on to a big screen during an eclipse. Pretty cool!

Binoculars are a great way to look at the stars and moon. You may be surprised at what you can see with a decent set of binoculars…

Has anyone built or ever considered building a telescope. I have had it in the midst of my mind for years now. Just can’t afford the optics yet…Perhaps I should Z-tize one…

I love to look at the moon … I go out several times a night to check out the sky, through the gaps in the oak and pine canopy over my neighborhood

My personal favourite

Agreed!
Its hard to top these Jupiter photos from Voyager.

Hopefully NASA will send another probe there, but I think it will be a few years.

In 2004 we should get to see some stunning pics of Saturn, thanks to the Cassini probe. It will be dropping a probe into Titan’s atmosphere, if all goes well!
