Jordu Schell - My version

hamburgler, If I where Jordu I would be very Honered that someone liked my work enough to do a study of one of my works.

Jordu is an amazing designer and sculptor, in my opinion one of the BEST designers in the industry.

As an artist, I use others work as inspiration, and I know alot of people who like to try and copy a piece. this can improve your skills and help your eye see form much better. some coppy real people, actors, or other Art. but it will all help you if you really try and coppy something. it will also teach you how important refrence is, looking at pictures and coppying what you see is very important. if its the whole piece your coppying or just a certin fold in the skin its important to coppy these things and make them look real.
creativity can come later and expand on your base knowledge of anatomy and form.

saying that, this is an excellent representation of that, and he obviously captured the feel of the sculpture in his Model and that was the goal. then by puting his own “twist” on it gave him another nice little study on his creative aspect of NOT coppying something every squar inch.

I dont think copying someones work is something you should do all the time, but it is a good study and is good for what its worth.
He obviously has talent because not many can do this.

onto my opinion on the model, I think its very well done. the eyes are beautifull and the material you used is great!

hope to see more things from you, and your own ideas as well;)

No I am not trying to get anybodies goat… I am an artist myself. Before somebody gets on my case about not posting work of my own and such, I’ll tell you that just because I haven’t mastered a desired medium doesn’t mean i don’t know what looks good.

I have do have artistic knowledge, but not in Z Brush, so if you want to consider me a spectator (for now), fine. So be it. I have worked with Z brush a few times and let me tell you that it is very intricate. I respect most of you guys on here.

I find it interesting that someone who choses a nickname of a thief would accuse another of the same.

Alan…you stated both your intention and gave credit and you honored the original not only by doing it well but by adding a little of yourself to the creation in your study. You sir can sleep well and count yourself amongst good company.

I’m getting that sinking feeling from his humor that hamburgler is infact noneother than jordu himself.

perhaps he should post some work and prove me wrong.
Afterall…we know from a previous post that he has seen this thread…

…tiktok

hi Alan
that’s amazing work. it has life man
congrats for the well deserved frontpage.

don’t get the hamburglar serious.
one in a million, that kind of people grows.
and if you are lucky he finds you

amazing not other words !!
congratulations :+1:
5*

Good to see this get to the top row. Well deserved. My eyes looked like that when I first saw it, it is truly jaw droppingly good!

As for Hamburglar, he is probably just trying to air his views, and that is what makes a good forum. Everyone has their own opinion, and may not agree with everyone else, but they are entitled to voice it, so lets not flame him so much.

I personally think Jordu would be proud - maybe email him a pic if he’s got an email address? It’s the best way to find out. (But don’t blame me if he files a law suit!)
Keep it up, and I can’t wait for the next post or project from you. Jit. :+1: :+1:   :grimacing:   :+1: :+1:

Hey hamburgler I don’t want you as my enemy my friend. I respect your point of view.

As aminuts said I gave the credit to original work to JORDU, I’m not thinking to say that it’s my creation, How I said it’s just a study and my interpretation about the Schell’s work.

I as usual repect all of artists and gave the credit as possible include in this thread puting bold in the names.

I would say that the texture don’t made with Antropus technique, who would saiydifferent?

Hi Gilles, how are you ?

thanks for your words my friend. Hiw said to you before, nothing special on the eyes, but later I make this tuto.

Zbrush is a amazing tool, I don’t know why I discovered this just now, arrggghh.

Thanks for your comment mate,

Alan

Woaaahh! Chill!! This piece was done as a study giving full credit to Jordu. It may be wise in future, Alan, to ask the artist prior for thier consent, however, as long as the piece is for personal growth and no profit will come from it, then no harm. You have given credit already and have done a fine job in this piece and I commend you in every way.

Hamburgler, although I respect opinions, I would caution you to not make assumptions for Jordu about being pissed. Jordu has seen this work and has had an e-mail exchange with Alan. (Jordu is about 50 feet away from me in another room, so he and I have talked as well) I will not speak too much on his behalf, but know that when someone copies your work and gives you credit, it IS flattering.
One last note, “Hamburgler” is a trademarked name. I don’t suppose you asked Ronald for his permission did you?

Woaaahhh chill for sure. Thanks Neville for the notice.

I speak with Jordu today by email and explained to him my intention and I think that is all right now. How Neville said, I should have aks to Jordu before, but i’s ritgh now

He just ask to me that I post here your words and your point of view about this, then be here.

My email

Hi Mr Schell,

Is a pleasure talking with you.

You are one of best artists and designers of industry and my
inpiration, thank you

I recentily made a study of the anatomy and interpretation in 3D about
one your work (cosmonaut) and would like know what do you think about
this, if have any problem about this.

I’m started with a new 3D tool called ZBrush, (I don’t know if you
know) and how my first work I thought why not to do some work of the
Schell?

I posted this pic at the ZBruschcentral.com. the thread called “Jordu

Email sent from Jordu to me

Alan------
I saw the Z-Brush Central post you did, and I think you did a pretty
good job of interpreting the sculpture. I was dismayed, however, that some
people think I posted the comments by Hamburglar…I have gone on Z-Brush
Central only a few times, but I really don’t have time to look at and read
chatroom postings all day. I resent the implication by this character who
goes by the name ‘TikTok’ that I am lurking on the site just waiting for
someone to attack. Who is this person?! This happened before on another site
where I was accused of going under a false identity—I am not a coward, and
I will always represent myself as who I am…I’m not remotely afraid to
tell folks what I think—and anyone who knows me can tell you that
firsthand. But, back to you using my work for study. I am flattered and
appreciative of your support of my work; I would only request that you let
me know BEFORE you do an interpretation of my stuff to just ask me first.
You know, I am actually thinking about making sculptures to sell to
Z-Brush modelers for reference, and for inspiration. What do you think?
Anyway, keep up the good work Alan.

--------Jordu Schell
ps----Please post this on Z-Brush Central

And, there you have it.
Keep up the great work Alan.

damn…no intent to offend anyone!..Sorry if I made a rash assumption about hamburglar being jordu…

I love the work Alan did…I just assumed hamburglar was jordu joking around…

sorry if I pissed anyone off…

Jordu knows who I am…I took his class two or more years ago…when I first moved to LA…

Lots of off respect all around…

Nice copy and twist from the original model! :+1:
TopRow enough said!
keep up the great work!

And about this whole misunderstanding copy art thingie, i totally agree with the words from VVDFX cause he took the words right out of my mouth:

Jordy Schell if you ever read this:
whistles Woa!
Really Happy i stumbled on this topic to know the artist behind the inspiration from Alancamara’s post!
These are some REAL NICE Sculptures and Art you have on your website!
And yes i will ask you VERY SOON if i can Zbrush prachtice from some of these amazing heads and bodies sculptures you got there.
Thats a promise!
keep up the unfckngbelievble FANTASTIC work! :grimacing:

(shutting up my blabber mouth and go’s back to Zbrush studies) :sunglasses:

Hey alan, Thanks for how you got that great sheen to the skin…how did you do those eyes…the translucence and the shine along with the details of the cornias…just fantastic.

I’m the fan watching TV dreaming of being a pro…

I Skullman Reallly the eyes are the window of the soul. I as usual I spend a lot time in the eyes, because the eyes give life to my models.

I’ll make a mini tuto about eyes, but you can look a great tutorial on the antropus’ site www.antropus.com.

I make a few maps to the eyes:
colormap, duffuse map. incadenscence map and on transparency map I put a window’s reflect to help with realism. The lights are very important to give an atmosphere to the scene.

The shader I use a blinn to eye and anisontropic to the cornea.

Thanks for your comment dude,

Alan

Hi guys, to close this question Jordu sent an email to me and I’m posting here.

Hey Alan…
Thank you for posting my email in ZBrush. I hope it cleared some
things up… Anyway, I hope to get into Zbrush sometime this year. My buddy
Neville is going to show me it’s basics sometime soon I hope. It looks
amazing, and I would love to know how to translate my sculpture into digital
models. The stuff by the guys on the forum looks amazing. Even my idol Rick
Baker has embraced this technology, with extraordinary results. Keep up the
great work, Alan. Take care.

Jordu Schell

Actually I did… Umm I don’t know if you saw me but, Ronald was on MTV’s Cribs and I was in the backround on his Basketball court. We are homies. I asked him if I could use the name when he was stoned, and he said yeah. So I hope that answered your question.:sunglasses:

Alan: as long as Jordu’s okay with it I am okay. It’s the whole “file sharing” thing. You already know how I feel about the model. It’s great. You didn’t put a whole lot of creative effort into it, Jordu did, but you EXECUTED splendidly. Doog Boj. I mean, Good Job… I am at Ronalds right now, he he.

Man, imagine that you work as modeler to a studio, ok? The concept artist make a character and you’ve modeling this. It’s a copy? I just want improve my skills with this study. I’ve others models and I’ll post here soon created by myself. But I understand your point of view and respect this.

Thanks

Alan
