Well i posted a response on the other forum, not sure if the bloke will respond tho.

Matt,

I’ve been a big fan of this model and your work since I first saw the model a few months ago. Great work! I even printed it out and use it as an example on my wall of the kind of work I’m going for. Thanks for sharing!

Mike

:grimacing: it looks great to me but as you can tell im a newbie, one thing i did notice and im not sur if its supposed to be there but the right nipple seems to look weird and the left shoulder muscle appears to be bigger than the right

Wow, that Tommy Lee Edwards bloke certainly ripped off this fine work alright! He first denies all knowledge, then makes out he seen a postage stamp sized image of your work that ‘influenced’ him. The overlay of his plagaristic work and your original someone posted proves that wrong though. He obviously used an actual image as the basis of his ripoff version.

If you look at that Tommy Lee Edwards whole image it seems to be entirely made up of two photoshop images of your Hulk and an actual pic of a person, that have been posterised, then worked on to get the final image.

This bloke is slime, I hate crap like that!

Mattcioffi should be the one doing ‘original’ comic book artwork, not that copying so-and-so, Tommy Lee Edwards  I checked out the blokes site, and barely any (if any?) hands on work as far as I could make out.

You tell me this aint pure photoshop with ripped of imagery?

Some people can use photoshop to really enhance their artwork. This is just pure digitally enhanced slick looking ‘fog’

Sorry, I’m rambling  This type of thing just makes by blood boil

Anyways, I’m glad people seen through the ‘fog’ and spotted Mattcioffi’s talent at it’s foundation. :+1:

you know at first i wholeheartedly agreed with you on Tommy Lee Edward and ripping off this piece of work (which i will heavily borrow on, along with kolby jukes’ hulk, the day i attempt a hulk myself)

and im not denying that he did rip off Matt and he should have been upfront about it and not deny it; but i cant flame him. i can only imagine the deadlines he must be under and if he could cut a corner here and there then god bless him. we all have to put food on our table.

obviously he had the talent to get the job in the first place. Next time he should just give credit where credit is due.

sorry dont want to hijack this thread which i have subscribed to and copied all those pretty WIP on my “artist to drool over” folder :stuck_out_tongue:

great work on this piece man but you havent posted anything else in a long time…dude cant wait to see another piece by you

ps that dude on the rain coat…doesnt he look like Matt Damon? that movie where he is a super agent with amnezia? cant think of the name.

Looks traced to me. Kinda sad to see that, I’ve enjoyed a lot of Tommy Lee Edward’s stuff.

I don’t even think he traced it to be honest! It looks more like he used an actual image and then the liquify mode on PS to shuffle things about a ‘tiny’ amount before slapping on a posterise filter.

hey guys,

tommy said in the newsarama thread that he was gonna change the cover. but someone at work told me that they think it’s going as is. we’ll see…

yeah i think when you do illustration it’s ok to trace stuff. but it’s a little wierd cuz it’s a comicbook cover. people expect that artist has come up with the full design himself. -esp the look of the hero. it’s a little dodgy in my book, but it’s hard to be objective. i don’t think this sort of thing belongs in comics. i hear he does cool original stuff tho…

i think i’m gonna be posting a new character soon. it’s hard when your working on models 8 or more hrs a day…

the more i learn the more i realize how much more i gotta learn. keep truckin

Water of a ducks back eh?

Great attitude mate :+1: :sunglasses:

I sincerely hope you get the credit your due!

Check out his other work though mate, he obviously cut-and-pastes a lot of realworld imagery into his work, some of it also other peoples designs/characters by the looks of it. The image I posted a few post above is a good example.
