How to create a silhouette Alpha

I want to composit my model into a shot in PS and I need to get a 2D image of the Character, with an alpha to cut him out, into PS so I can put him into a background. What’s the best way to do this?

Paint your model with the “flat color” shader and a single color, with a contrasting flat color backround.

Its probably easier just to render the model against a “green screen” backround and extract it in photoshop.
