Gremlin *FINISHED*

Thanks man  Untill now, I had never noticed how much lighting an improve your overall piece  Theres still a bit more detail to go in, so expect another update in the next few days or so…

Wonderful Image CTD !!! Great POV works 2 ways straight on or from above  :+1: :tu

          Ztevie-rae.

Bring out the Gimp !

Funny you say that  The intitial idea was to have the POV looking down at him, while he was standing, arms by the side.

I trialed it and tested it, but it really didn’t look as good as I thought it could.

All of a sudden, this idea came into my head, I trialed it, worked out better than the previous idea, so it stuck

What an expression on the gremlins face! I like the way you created the rocky background, any tips??

Thanks grub.

For the rocky background. I roughly edited the sphere 3D tool, then basically just went nuts with it. Placeing them all over th place, slightly changed them in edit mode, and bringing them forwards or backwards into the scene.

The material I used was “Toy Plastic”

The texture I used is here…

Of course, I opened that texture up in photoshop, created a new document 3000 x 3000, and cut and pasted that dirt.jpg, one after the other, untill I had a 3000 x 3000 texture file in psd format.

However that files was 24MB, far too big to upload unfortunatley

After that was done, I baked the layer. Then took the fiber brush, with the density down, grooming up… and carefully went over the rocks with a dark green.

After that, I chose a slightly lighter green and added ‘highlights’ to the moss where I thought they were needed.

For the render, a very very small amount of fog is added, with a very short depth cue.

This is coming along nicely Cal. I know you weren’t intending to put eyes in but have you thought about maybe putting in blind eyes? They can be whitened out and bloodshot…I think it would make the figure look even more miserable.

Hey Mentat, thats a fantastic idea!! Thankyou so much, I was in a slump with it, not sure what to do next, you’ve just answered my question  Thank you.

I’m just not that comfortable on my eyes yet. I get them into photoshop, and I’m lost. I’ll see what I can come up with in the next day or two.

Ok this is the last update I think guys. I’m happy with it so I think i’m done.

I just tweaked some certain areas in Zbrush, added dull simple eyes, which I think work pretty effectivly. As always comments area welcome

Hi Cal,

Cool cool cool…

You zoomed past so many people in such little time, GREAT WORK !!!

ps. I haven’t been around, hence no comments till now

Excellent work! You’ve come a very long way in almost no time at all! The modeling is excellent, the texturing is great, and the scene is chalk full of great little details. This is a remarkable piece.

Thankyou for your kind comments. However I still think there is a lot of room for improvment with my technique. Hopefully my next image will show it

looking great Cal…give a thin bit of highlight on the ears, (still needs a swinging johnson muhahahah) and the knees are a bit jaggy to me…maybe a slight blur on them…and I dont know how to do it, really, but maybe a little sweat and moisture here and there…hmmmm…these are just thoughts to an excellant image that can stand on its own right now…keep up the great work on this piece :+1: :+1: :+1:

Great job!! The only thing i would add would be some cloth that covered up his no no spots… this would help by covering up where his legs meet at.
Awesome job and i absolutely love it!!!

Hi Caliban,

Interesting image, I don’t know if I should feel sorry for this Gremlin - if he’s a victim or if he who would release him would be the victim  Nice translucency on the chest.

Wow! the modelling on this is unreal, excellent work.
I think my favourite parts are his feet, very well realised. :+1: :+1:
Keep up the good work and don’t worry about the wedding tackle, he could have been in some bizzare skiing accident or something…

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
