Interesting! Good job!

Cool concept!

I was lucky enough to be part of a small project, along with two other amazing artists, Charles Chorein and Thomas Obrecht. With this breakdown, I present you a one month project we putted together.

I was responsible for the Modeling and Texturing parts. Thomas Obrecht took care of the Rigging and Animation process. Charles Chorein was our supervisor and worked on the Look Development and Compositing steps.

This shot was created for a Gnomon Workshop about Look Development that you can access with the following link : thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/trex-lookdev-and-lighting-with-maya-and-arnold

I wish to thanks both of my two colleagues for this amazing project !

Release the beast.

This is a private commission I made for Noemotion. I was responsible for all the aspects. We needed to have a trex that could hold a 12K resoution still frame for our client.

The work was made in 8 days, with the amazing help from Texturing XYZ creature displacement textures. I used the caiman and frog packs to creature the base displacement in Mari, then everything was imported and baked in Zbrush. I then sculpted on top and recreated some of the scale to get better volumes.

The albedo was fully painted by hand in Mari using procedural textures, with the help of curvature and cavity masks.

I used the base mesh that I previously created for a Gnomon workshop tutorial.

There is no post-process over the final frame, everything comes straight out of Arnold.

There are tons of information, along with timelapse videos. You can also download the pdf version directly on the website.

Hi guys,

I really happy to show you the final piece for my Lynx Pardinus anatomy study. These are the renders that I did in Maya, using Arnold. This model was done for my animal anatomy lecture that I'll give from April at the CGMA. I had tons of fun working on this guy ! Ready to share the full process with my future students :D If you want to join my class, please visit the following link : https://3dclassroom.cgmasteracademy.com/elective/2108 ![lynx_006_render.jpg|1100x1486](upload://5PZTMEEcs2cL1xkMtonq9CNdVYh.jpeg)

Gael,

Interesting to see the fine work you put in on your sculpt of the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus).

This lynx is relatively small compared to other lynx and the males are a bit thick. Yours looks thin, so I am guessing it is a female - she is moving really fast, in a rotary gallop, so
I hope she catches the rabbit she is after, to feed her to feed her cubs and boost their smallish numbers.

One thing I might critique is the nails on her feet. Cats only expose the nails when catching prey or climbing trees - otherwise they are sheathed. All cat tracks - even fresh ones in
snow, lack any indication of the nails and can be a useful way of distinguishing canine from feline track ways.

The rotary gallop is nicely done! The flexion of the vertebrae is characteristic of cats in general, but may be a little hyper flexed in a small, stockier cat like Lynx pardinus - but now I
am being picky! Keep up the good works and best of luck with your anatomy course.

Regards,
Lewis

Hi everyone,
I am really happy to share with you the final renders of my dragon. This is The Eldest, a CGMA’s dragon. The full creation of this beast has been recorded. It will be used to teach to my students how to design their own creatures, and go from the concept sculpt to the actual render.
The asset creation has been fully handled in ZBrush : modeling, UVs and texturing. The final render has been made in Maya and Arnold.

Because you cannot go far without great friends, I’d like to thanks particularly Jeremy Celeste and TexturingXYZ for providing such amazing content. Jeremy always put the artist first when he create content. I learned so much speaking with him… You’ll always have my support !
