Lonnie,

I may only sit in sadness. You can not force the willing. As much as I would love for you to reconsider, I will not try to sit here and write a way for you to stay. I give you my support though it pains me to do so.

I also would like to say a few words.

It is upsetting that there are individuals out there in this world (and on the net) that feel the need to do harm. Even in art and creativity. Harm in such a thing shouldn’t be so but it is. Such a sad thing in itself let alone to actually have victims. I am truly sorry that it has come to this Lonnie.
It is because of your support, knowledge, and friendship that I feel has helped me along here. Especially at a time when I seemed to be an unwanted character. There are things that I know and do know that would have been a lot harder to come by if you weren’t here. This also isn’t exclusive to anything zbrush either. You have been a great source of ispiration and comfort here. It hurts me to see you leave.
There was a time when I too felt the need to erase myself from the net. The only problem there was that I didnt really want that. I needed the net for a source of education. So I ‘rolled with the punches’ for a while and waited. Thankfully I did. As much as I would love for you to do the same, I know that the only reason why I did so was because I still needed to grow. I can see now how it can also get in the way.

I crush a cup of wine for you tonight.
It is good that you may consider a site later. I look forward to this day.
I will not say goodbye but farewell to you and your and hope to hear from you soon.

I’m not usually very good at these things.
I hope you come back Mentat7. I’ve enjoyed the Monday night chats with you and I appreciate the inspiration you’ve given myself and all of us.

Sad news indeed. I can empathise that the personal hassle and sickening disapointment of all this would make you come to such a decision.

I hope you do decide to stay and that allies may be of help.

EZ’s gallery over at renderosity where he was flailing around giving it like a fish out of water has been removed. Perhaps he had a change of heart, or perhaps you have important friends lonnie.

Well Mr. Mentat, this is a dark day indeed. You’ll be back tomorrow, right? :slight_smile:

No disrespect intended. Your top-notch work provides excellent examples of what can be done with ZBrush, and ZBC is chock-full of your detailed and helpful tips. You clearly know this program very well and your help as an expert teacher is much appreciated.

In fact, last night I was working through the tooltip help in the 1.55 demo, trying out little throwaway experiments, and would be reminded of tips you had given on ZBC and IRC, e.g., about mesh resolution and textures, adjusting ambient and diffuse settings of materials, etc.

Didn’t know about the ruckus until I uploaded a picture to Renderosity today around dawn, and saw the other regrettable postings. Seems like something the server admins would be glad to help with.

I wish you well in any case, but like the others, I hope that for now we can leave it at “hasta le vista” …

Hey Lonnie, don’t quit because of this - you have overwhelming support from us all here. The best thing to do would be to soldier on - a few of us have had this crap from others - but if you’ve done nothing wrong, take strength from that fact. Keep your chin up, bud - I’m going to do my best to persuade you! :+1:

I don’t know any particulars here but this is one of the most common issues that face any group of people.

One is hurt by another.

One is not bad and one good. One is in pain and has projected that pain onto another.

This is the time to give support to both parties.

Lonnie, its not personal- its about someone else being in pain and not being able to control it.
Its about be human and making mistakes.

I hope the other party realises that it was a mistake to take it out on someone else.

I would also like to think that members of this group would welcome that person back if they made an attempt to show that they have learnt from this.

Mentat- leaving will not help you or anyone else. Accept the support of the group and continue giving it to everyone.

As for the other party - you are human and I’m sure we all have had moments where we made life difficult for someone unfortunate enough to be around when we have been in pain.

Its not the mistakes we make that defines us, but what we do after making the mistake and what we do to others that make mistakes.

We all love art - we love creativity and we understand that producing a imperfect picture does not make us a bad artist.

I would give you a hug if I could Mentat - I would also give the other party one as well.

You both need one.

Now lets get Zbrushing!

Like so many other people here I wish you wouldn’t leave for good. You’ve been a great inspiration and help, and it would be a crying shame if this was your final decision.

Anyway it is your decision. I just hope, in your own time, you will change your mind.

I hope you don’t let this person ruin your posting experience by sharing your pictures with other people. What is an art that you cannot share with others??

I have personally wondered what was up with this person EZ yesterday while I posted a little message on your work at CGTalk so I had my suspicions today about who it might be before the others confirmed it.

He seems like an immature 12 yr old who can’t grasp the tools and lashes out at persons more capable than himself. I think you should reconsider your decision to leave ZBC forums and the net because of this odd angled zuchini. Anyway, you have my encouragement and support in your work, I know what it feels like to be annoyed by other posters probably because I tended to hang out in not the best of places. Filled with arguments and people with idiotic ideas I was always trying to correct/teach. Bah, doesn’t work!

Just don’t let someone discourage you in the things you DO do. For example, I think that great woman author with the big nose said something relevant, “You can’t find peace by running away from life.”

So I have to say, don’t give up something you clearly love because of the harassment of this one person who will eventually go away or find someone who will tangle with his issues whatever they are in real life.

I think you should just ignore this person!
I think you should set your settings to ‘ignore user’.
I too am sensitive and tend to have the same sort of regressing philosophy in my work, but it’s not always the best solution.
He’s clearly delusional and frustrated/jealous that he has to make such comments.

I too have enjoyed seeing your images and learning from the tips you leave as much as I can, usually my retainancy is about 25%. :slight_smile:
You’re a true ZBrush master, I hope you decide to stay. :slight_smile:

Lonnie. Don’t let any one online persona effect you this way. I get titsed off all the time (as you well know) but I have found a great way to deal with it. A delete button and a spam filter in my eyesockets. Just ignore 'em buddy. Take a break from the Forums not from your artwork. Work on projects in private and share them with the people who love your images and imagination.

By the way, who threw Mud at me!!! I’ll get my Dad on him…

If Pixolator programmed it then surely you will be held partly responsible for selling it to the masses!
There are other members as talented as your good self but as far as I can remember, in the time I have been here no one else can touch you in terms of devotion, attitude and down right helpfulness.
I will say nothing about the individual who caused this but giving up seems like the wrong path to take.

hello to everybody, first i would like to say sry i have been absent from here since october due to work. i come throught once in a while to see your work and this time was a shocker. I still cant beleive this post. I only have one question. How can anyone do this to Lonnie of all people. You are one of the kindest, most helpful people i know on the net. this is BS, EZ go home Goof!

It really burns me that the ill-mannered morons seems to “win” in these conflicts. And the loss of such a positive force is sobering indeed. :frowning:

FWIW, I know what I’m going to wish for when I blow out the candles on my birthday cake today.

Wow, this is very difficult to see. I truly hope you reconsider. As mentioned before you are one of the most kind people I know with your helping of so many with your tips and great artwork. It is truly inspirational, to see your posts and it would be a great loss to this forum. I would very much like to see you reconsider. Just from the posts to this, I believe you can see what a following you have. But, if you do have to go, know that my best wishes go with you and I hope you return to us someday (with some new incredible works of course). It has been my pleasure!

Thank you everyone for your support. It has been a trying few days for sure. The individual has of his own volition ceased his inflammatory activities. I have not yet changed my mind concerning my leaving. However I will give it considerable thought as you have all made me succintly aware that by leaving I may indeed be taking the easy way out. Christos I am sorry you used your 1000th post on this trivial matter. I know you had plans for it. We have butted heads more than a few times in the past but know that I value what you have said here. With certainty…you have given me considerable thought with all of your postings since your return. Your example and the efforts of those who have posted here as well as those who have communicated to me personally has reinforced the bastions of my mental defense. If it appears I have vacated do not fret…I shall only be contemplating.

:eek: I would hate to see you leave as well as everyone else mentat7, honestly out of a lot of artist on this site you are one of the most helpful individuals that this site has seen. Names dont mean anything to you, its the art itself, thats what you look at and help that person as an indivdual artist.
please reconsider, take a break and come back to ours and your Z-WORLD its just starting to get good!!! Maybe thats one of the reasons I dont chat online because theres alway some jerk whos there to try and ruin it all or mr. smarty pants who knows it all. IF you leave your work and progress will be missed dearly, just tell us who will we look up to man, C mon fugghetabout it!!
