As you may have read in an earlier post I have been the target of extreme harrasment by a former ZBC member. Despite some small attempts to stop him the other sites I frequent are unable to prevent his disparaging remarks. As I sit and ponder this I realize (as I have known all along) that I don’t really need the net to proceed with my work. I am able to do that in the real world just fine. I have come to know a great many of you very well and have made numerous friends. It is unfortunate that in the digital world the monsters can propagate their inflammatory remarks at will with no real fear of retalliation while the targets of said remarks have no true recourse for defense. People tend to take the “politically correct” stance and stay out of it thus enamouring the Trolls in their own self-made glory. It is with heavy heart that I say good by to you all and voluntarily rescind my membership here at ZBC. I have already asked to have my CGTalk membership suspended and am in the process of removing my Renderosity gallery. I thank you for your time and understanding and I am grateful for the support you have given me this past year. One day I will have a website up and running and will make the address available to you. But I shall not participate on the net in any other way shape or form.

Hey Mentat7.I would just like to say your posts will be missed here very much.But I would also like to say that by you doing this it is just letting this man/woman to win.This is probably exactly what the feble minded fool wants you to do.But if you have to go - good luck and I think we all will be looking forward to your address to your site once it is up and running. :+1:

I totally agree with dr.jjwow , that person must be pretty lame if he got you to leave the net. I hope that guy gets what he deserves and you come back soon. As for now , thank you for all your tips , help and magnificent images.

This is a very serious matter, and I’d like to assure you that Pixologic is treating it as such. You have our support, Lonnie, and we are doing everything that we can to assist.

I may only sit in sadness. You can not force the willing. As much as I would love for you to reconsider, I will not try to sit here and write a way for you to stay. I give you my support though it pains me to do so.

I also would like to say a few words.

It is upsetting that there are individuals out there in this world (and on the net) that feel the need to do harm. Even in art and creativity. Harm in such a thing shouldn’t be so but it is. Such a sad thing in itself let alone to actually have victims. I too was a target of said cad, callow-ways.
I am truly sorry that it has come to this Lonnie.
It is because of your support, knowledge, and friendship that I feel has helped me along here. Especially at a time when I seemed to be an unwanted character. There are things that I know and do know that would have been a lot harder to come by if you weren’t here. This also isn’t exclusive to anything zbrush either. You have been a great source of ispiration and comfort here. It hurts me to see you leave.
There was a time when I too felt the need to erase myself from the net. The only problem there was that I didnt really want that. I needed the net for a source of education. So I ‘rolled with the punches’ for a while and waited. Thankfully I did. As much as I would love for you to do the same, I know that the only reason why I did so was because I still needed to grow. I can see now how it can also get in the way.

I crush a cup of wine for you tonight.
It is good that you may consider a site later. I look forward to this day.
I will not say goodbye but farewell to you and your and hope to hear from you soon.

I’m sorry to see you go --your work is an inspiration and your knowledge and friendship to the ZBrush community is very valuable …Let’s hope there’s a time very soon when you come back-- you’ll be missed by many !

Now I wonder if we shouldn’t have a small detention room website called “ZTantrum” where people who have become offended for any reason or who feel hurt or neglected by the mainstream ZBrush community–can post wild headbanging diatribe and extreme art…(and practical jokes posts like MizzThanng -Thelonius and Mentat have fallen victim to )where it’s not normal to be there… UNLESS you’re pissed off…might be good stress relief for people who feel left out or kicked out…or mistakenly mistreated :smiley:

Who is harassing you? There is always recourse for defense. I don’t think going into hiding is the answer.

Lonnie this is not good news for any of us here at this forum. You have your reasons and must have thought long and hard about the decision you have taken. All I can say is that your work has inspired many.

Well, I am not “visible” here too often (I come here mostly for learning things, and this don’t need me “in public”). But: with that many friends around I think it should be possible to overcome the fact that there is one of these cowardly acting persons around. Due to the nature of the net where you always can hide - there will be always someone around that is sick enough to try and cause some harm.
I found out that it is best to ignore those maniacs, to make them sit in thin air. Just let them spread their poison, they will soon run out of it!!
Like I said: I don’t post here often, and these are only my 2 cents.

Lon, just don’t play the game that way. I’ve been harassed lots of times, and not only my personality has been the target, but also what little talent and work I put into my paintings.

you won’t give them the satisfaction of saying: “what a loser”, because it’s clear that their thought patterns aren’t quite like yours. They believe they’re doing the right thing wiping you off the map, but I doubt it’s what YOU want.

so, whilst you compromise yourself, they get what they want. why?

this is my 1000th post. I was keeping it for something special. please let it not go to waste, and resume your cyber-socialization. You won’t let cyber libel get in your way, because when you get enough recognition, there will be worse libel in real life. How are you going to cope with it? Same as now. You’ll come back and fight. I’m on your side.

and if there’s one person who’s proven he’s above politically correct on this forum, it has to be me, since I’ve been hunted down and banned for that and for someone impersonating me.

so save the despair. I’ll help if it comes to that. My written argument isn’t that bad. I think I can assist.

Thank you everyone for your support. It has been a trying few days for sure. The individual has of his own volition ceased his inflammatory activities. I have not yet changed my mind concerning my leaving. However I will give it considerable thought as you have all made me succintly aware that by leaving I may indeed be taking the easy way out. Christos I am sorry you used your 1000th post on this trivial matter. I know you had plans for it. We have butted heads more than a few times in the past but know that I value what you have said here. With certainty…you have given me considerable thought with all of your postings since your return. Your example and the efforts of those who have posted here as well as those who have communicated to me personally has reinforced the bastions of my mental defense. If it appears I have vacated do not fret…I shall only be contemplating.
