Enchanted Forest: Keepers of the Gate. WIP... Update #6

Hi Pixolator,
please, please, please…find more time to do a tutorial (with or without script): i think this adds a lot attraction to ZBrush…and we can do better works.
Just incredible images.

cameyo

Thanks for your (very) kind feedback

Cameyo: New information/tips/techniques will be available following the upcoming MacWorld and Siggreaph shows

As for the ‘skin’ effect in the previous image…It can simply done by using the SingleLayerBrush with ‘freehand’ stroke type and circle-alpha (such as Brush 06). Drawing repeated strokes will produce the layering effect.

Grub: Yes  here are some wireframes

he’s cute

I thought you had snake hooked that image…wow…ya da’ man!!! Where did your inspiration come for this one Pix?

yikes!

EDIT: I’ve just checked out the wireframes. Amazing. Can’t wait to check out this new tool. Should make the usual way of modeling obselete.

Thats cool  Looks a little like a cross between the Predator, and that wierd artist that hangs himself from the ceiling using sharp hooks and ropes

Terrific work!

Argh, wrong image, heh… it was meant to be my signature

ahh better

Thank you Pixolator!!! I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out that texture. I realized it had been painted on after the figure was modeled but my experiments kept coming up flat. I think I was on the right track but I just didn’t try the right combinations! Thank you!! And for everyone else out there eventhough Pix is apparently using the ultra-secret-kewlies new version toys we can still get much the same results (at least with the trees) by using multimarker objects. It appears it make take a little more work than Pix had to do but it can be done. I am off to my secret lab to test out my ideas…muhwahahahahaha…

Looks great so far!

I wonder if that new modelling tool is something like metaballs, if it’s more like the “wax” modeller from Amorphium Pro, or if it’s some kind of Catmull-Subsurface Smoothing Dealy. We’ll have to wait and see.

I must say I’m intrigued by that tree/branch wireframe.

Seems to me like some poor soul got caught wandering in the forest, got captured by some trees and are turning him into a tree just like them.

Love the hairy/rooty update. Pix…You are such a tease…I Can’t wait for this new updated version of Zbrush to be released…
if this image is any indication, it is going to be so much fun!!!
Cheers.

ooow this is yummy! very sharp and plenty of realistic texturing, I am still very impressed with your cave image, the realism of it. Now my eyes are open on this one! Nice one Pix

wireframes image-link fixed

How in the world did I miss this thread? This is incredible! Thanks, Pix! :+1: :sunglasses: :+1:

This has a Mangrove tree type root system. It is so totally different! and awe inspiring.
I would certainly like to give an image like this a try.

Thanks

Here is a quick update, this is still a WIP and more items will be added/modified in the next update…

“Enchanted Forest: Keepers of the Gate”

These are the gatekeepers of the Enchanted Forest. The keeper (guardian) on the left will be holding a key while the one on the right will be holding a shield and a torch (weapon). Only those who are allowed to pass will be given a key; while the unfortunate souls will be sent to oblivion .The wood structure in the middle will be transformed into a gold plated symmetrical gate (lock in the middle) with at least one imbedded precious/shining stone. Part of the gate and the wood/keepers will be red-hot to the touch (glowing yellow/orange/red). New clouds/fog and a moon will be added (the above clouds/fog are temporary) as well as foliage and whatever else will be needed

Thanks,
-Pixolator

P.S> By having a larger scene but yet , having to keep the overall pixel-size of the image about the same, some of the details are unfortunately too small to be noticed and are in danger of becoming ’noise’. (This noise is further amplified by the low-quality jpg compression of the above image)

I like the’Ankh’ type shape in the certer part of the gate…As a gemologist, jeweller, and gemcutter, I’m REALLY looking forward to your gemstone!
Thank you for sharing the creative sequence and its wonderful meanderings, Ofer! :+1: :sunglasses:

I feel like an ant looking up at this towering creation. It sounds like you have your work cut out for you. All of those elements you describe will make this very dramatic and definately enchanted. What is the canvas size that you are working at?

I copied this image to my desktop, so that I could see it stretched out. Good Gravy, this is awesome! I love the perspective, the “looking up” feeling. Any chance you will post a few closeups, so we can see the detail you mentioned? And, hey, you are Pixolator, so can’t you exceed the 200kb limit, just for us?
