E.D.A.H - Every Day An Hour (Jack and Kevin)

Abe has a total of 1M ap from 7 sub-d. Here’s how the mesh looks like at each lv.
abe_steps.jpg

as you can see the face is pretty much already there at lv 4, which is 18k ap.
lv 5 and lv 6 are pretty much for hair and dress, to get rid of the low pixles.
lv 7 has some minor brush details. I’m sure if i do a retopology, I can get the final result with maxium of 288k ap for sure.

Jan_1hr_per_day_09.JPG :qu: Ok here is my Day two 1hr work. After I establised ploygroups , re grouped and
so on, I began to sculpt.

I have subdivided once, and I have 1.466 mil polys. I must be doing something wrong, very wrong. ???

that’s because your “base”, your lv 1 is already very high. my lv 1 sub d is 500 trian.

Love the Abe likeness. That’s awesome.

aaaa that sculpture from Lincoln is GREAT Jackzhang!!, I love that kind of texture that he have, is like sculpture of real life with clay i really love that style, also the render looks awesome , is that a render in zbrush, or compositing in PS, or in 3D package?

Yeah great Lincoln sculpt:+1:

Im guessing he grabed a z-depth pass from the alpha channel and composited it inside of PS.

Nice render btw. Are you planning to leave that clay-ish feel to Ab, or smooth it out to finalize it?

render in zb and compo in ps

abe is final. this is a somewhat smooth version

My first attempt at a quick sketch was not so quick after all, I ended up taking ~2h. I need to get used to the proportions and everything to do things more quickly and more accurately…

1 hour 35 min…

Haha cool! I see a Brad Pitt resemblance

@ goldenturd: awsome detail on the ears you did there, may i ask what kind of matcap you used?

The eyes are too close together. Realistically you would want about one eye width between them and five eye widths across the head. But that’s not bad for the time it took. Keep at it and you’ll improve.

~ 3h

Decided on a more cartoony look for today’s attempt, and I’ve gotta say I’m a lot more satisfied with the outcome compared to what I did yesterday.

Sweet looking stuff! I like the recent “Cartoon” In my following pic… I am just over a million polys, Notice how the detail I’m try to add is still so very “Gridish” I want to subdivide, but my system might hit the wall. I should be able to get better results at this level should’t I? I fool with HD geometry a bit but not enuff yet.

Suggestions?Jan_1hr_per_day_10.JPG

Yeah, I suppose it’d have to look a lot smoother with 1 million polys, but then again, some of the parts seem to be very smooth compared to others. Might just be a case of badly distributed topology. It actually happened in the model I’ve just posted above, you can see in the last pic that the shoulder has a much greater polygon density than the actual face, I started with a simple zsphere structure and I probably did something wrong.

T.O.T.A.L.L.Y D.I.G I.T!

Hah, thanks man, means a lot coming from ya.

a small tutorial I’d like to share

Nice. I wouldn’t mind if you shared tips on the final render as well, I’m interested to know how you comp’d that fog effect and the background and everything, looks really nice.
