Dinosaurs

nice dino, lots of good detail you gots:cool:

I LOVE the darker T-Rex. I’d bet they were on the dark side so that they’d warm up easier in the sun, like an alligator. But who really knows? They could have had speckles of green to blend in with the forest or they could have been red, like a Gila Monster, as a warning or to attract a mate.

Dino-Mite!! Like the skin details. Great work! :+1:

Thanks

Maybe. But we can’t be sure. Many dinosaurs probably were not haematocryal, as some scientists suppose.

Great work, how do you make those scales on t-rex head, what is your workflow?
Thanks.

Молодец! Классно работаешь, низкий поклон! :+1:small_orange_diamond:)

very cool! I love the breakdown shots you did of the T rex where you split up the image. Got any more dino’s to show us?

yes, very interested to see how you approached the scales.

Beautiful man! I am loving this thread, keep it up these sculpts are awesome!

Haematocryal. Now that’s a word I’d never heard before. Learn something new every day. Thanks.
I like the prospects that dinosaurs could have been vibrantly colored or even have feathers. (Like the way the Carnotaurus is shown with red skin and horns.)

Some groups of theropoda dinosaurs could have feathers. Some Utahraptor relatives for example (or maybe even Utahraptor himself). But not all dinosaurs. It can depend of their genealogy. Scientists has evidences of feathered predatory dinosaurs and non feathered.
And I don’t think that big predatory dinosaurs (hunters, not scavengers) had plural colouration. It could prevent them from hunt. IMO of course. =)

Another dino. Allosaurus fragilis
I used ZBrush and Photoshop for texturing.

I painted texture in ZBrush and finalized it in Photoshop.

awesome textures and model  :+1:

Some very nice work except i think you need to work on your textures some more.
Theres too much dirt baked into the cavity of you maps giving it a game look rather than a film look. Let your displacement and bump create the shading in the recess areas instead of painting in dirt. Also your reflection maps need more breakup to give a realistic look. Even painting in a bit of overlayed concrete texture will help this along.
keep up the great work

Wonderful Work! I really like how you present your work also.

Just out of curiosity, where do you find your images for sculpting the base mesh. I have looked everywhere on the net for some good side, top and front profiles of T-Rex and have come up empty!

Thank you for advice. Yes you’re right.
I didn’t try to get the realistic picture. I like the style of illustration.
But I will be very much obliged to you if you can tell me more about rendering and shaders setup on these your pictures.

I have a lot of problems and questions about rendering, but I want to learn this sphere very much.

Thanks. All my dinosaurs are paleontological reconstructions. I always use the photos of really fossils and skeletons. I look after contemporary animals. I often consult some paleontologists-experts. And of course I derive inspiration from works of famous paleoartists. Here are my favourite works:
