Deep Sea Creature Challenge

Insane Fish6.jpg

Hey, Mattybyng…I have a question…:o

Those three pics you posted that depict, “deep sea-creatures” in the beggining…Is the one in the middle (the one that looks like a baby Nessy) is that a model you did, or is it a real sea-creature??? Im puzzled to what this creatures scientific name is, to me it looks to be a baby Plesiodon… If you have any information on this “creature” let me know… Thanks, D:D

All of those pictures are photographs of real deep sea fish.

This is a wip I haven’t gotten around to finishing 100%

Needs more texture work etc…

Hello,
I am new here and I’ll try to post before closing date…

I think I missed the closing date, six months ago.

I guess this post is long gone. But I did make a fish type creature a year ago.

I called it cabbagefish. It was somewhat based on those deep sea fish pictures.

How did you do the water? With bubles and all!

Even if the challenge is finished (…) I send you 2 specimens we made with Zbrush: Marc boulay for modelling and I did the textures (ZApp-link) & integration.
Deep see is a great source of inspiration!
The first one exists, the second one was invented.

…under the sea

the huge monster and cabbage fish are great!

very cool pics in this thread!

Where the light does not dare to go, deep in the caves under the sea, there it waits. Patiently filtering the water for the tiny currents of motion. Ready to latch on and feed.

No chance for the little fishes

nice one Lemo…what does it look like from the front?

That is really awesome and very unique. I love the symmetry and it reminds me a bit of escher. Another piece of really cool art.

Thanks for showing.

Really cool!
The greyscale is perfect! I didn’t even realize that there were no color in it until just now

Hey,

Here’s a seahorse. I hope I didn’t break the rule about no bright colors. Seahorse was too dark, so I adjusted the levels in Photoshop.

Lemo,

You can’t post that without explaining how you did it  Impressive concept :+1: Texture that sucker (pun intended).

Reverie,

Rules? Artists don’t have rules  Cool Seahorse :+1:

Do artists not have rules, or do they have 'em and just break 'em all?

Thanks for the comment on the seahorse. Poor little monster, good thing he doesn’t really have to swim. He looks like he’s made out of iron and would sink like a rock. I don’t know why all my textures end up looking like old metal. :o
