This should be on the top row.

You keep evolving into an even better artist with each post. Awesome work. 5 from me. :+1:

Drummer, This is by far your best work. I agree that it is top row. I’m sorry to hear that you had bad problems in your life I hope all is well now. Out of your bad problems came some great work. Great job friend!

yo-bro, this is for me still the best…I love it
I voted with “excellente”
-cheerZ-

Those looks, those eyes, that nose, that skin… Now I know what to aim for in the far far future!

vlad74 : I hope so, thx friend

Giantsun : hey thx, it’s a big compliment

monstermaker : friend thx a lot, I’m really glad you like it. About my problems, sure they are not bigger than the problems of the other people, thx

Abyssis : heya, graet support from you bro, thank you vey much

Plakkie : thx bro, having a goal is what makes us go on, even if we will never arrive. never give up

final with adjustemnts on the felt and the white cap on the ear

dante20.jpg

That felt has really improved! The leaves look more diverse now too. The heavy texture on the white cloth draws my attention away from the face a bit. Personally, I would lower the bumpiness on it just a little. The color of the off-white is just perfect. Amazing how you still seem to be able to improve on this allready astounding image! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Marco, My friend, you have done Dante great justice…

An excellent piece indeed!

Top Row work,

Dickie

Plakkie : thx a lot ! I’ll try to adjust more the white cap on the ear, thx for your advice bro

Dickie : friend ! it’s just my reference ! I used this image from a book I have totally illustrated by Gustavo Dorè, and I used the death mask too. many thx for your support my friend

pride : hey thank you very much, really apprecciate

cameyo : heya friend ! a long time we didn’t talk ! thx a lot for replying

Marco,

Gustav Dore’s work is bloody amazing. I have an 1867 edition of Tennyson’s “Idylls of the King” illustrated by Gustav Dore. When I was younger, I would just sit there and pore over the details in his engravings. He was definately a big inspiration to me and a factor in my choosing art as a career…

Dickie

wow.

Interesting discussion aobut Dante’s nose found here:

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=26315&page=2&pp=15

It also mentions the name of his hat.

Dante would never have thought that after 600 years people would seriously discuss the shape of his nose…

Blast! Wrong link :o.

This is the one: http://users.boardnation.com/~thedanteclub/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=112

Hahaha, that nose is real strange, I remember I started Johnny the Noseblower that way

Dickie :  we have the same taste about art and inspiration ! I have a May 15th 1940 “Divina Commedia” illustrated by Gustavo Dorè, maybe it was my grandpa’s, and I remember when I was child that I looked at the illustration with a sense of terror and a great ammiration about the engravings of the “Inferno” ! I remember that I looked at the images a lot of time during a day, but everytime I looked at one, I closed the book after few seconds :), the images seemed to be too much real so I was terrified ! The last year, when I stared to use Zbrush, after over 10 years I re-discovered this book and now I’ll use it for my projects ! I hope that with this thesis I can do good stuffs. Thx bro for your kind words :+1:

dyaus :  thx

Plakkie : really funny speechs, and interesting  Maybe his nose it wasn’t that slanted, maybe the man who has the death mask copy, said a not bad thing… but everybody know Dante with that nose…poor man :D.
“cappello di drappo e cuffia” :D:D simply great !!

Bas : Dante the Noseblower  try to put on his a “cappello di drappo e cuffia”
