Buana cara. Aún sin color este alienígena impone respeto. :+1:

Nice Scott, i think the lips/mouth turned out beautifully. Mouths are always a very delicate area to describe in any medium. It turned out great. I personally think the nose/nostrils need to be refined further. Perhaps deeper nostrils, and more ‘completed’ bridge across the top of the nose. I dont know, its your design, those are just my 2 cents if it was my own. Ken

This is really cool Scott. Great design and great modeling
mm

ok, now thats detailed skin man.Great work and cant wait to see this finished
:+1:

Really cool design!
Are you thinking of animating him?
It’d be cool to see him barking out orders to his subbordinates
Reminds me a little of Simon Bisley’s stuff.

Is all the detail in the geometry or have you done any bump maps?
I’m still trying to get the hang of how much of the details to put into the sculpt, and how much to leave for the bump map.
Those suckers tend to get unwieldy at the stage you can add pores to them.

Is very nice, cool work. Really cool design and modeling.

Thanks everyone!

monstermaker: Thanks man. Your alphas you posted a while back helped a lot! Thanks for sharing those!

Ivanperezayala Mr micro26 vivian and Thomaskl: Thanks for the kind words on the design. I may work like this more often with just a sphere and no design in mind. That is how I almost always start in pencil or clay. The skin details owe
a lot to monstermaker and to some fruit skins I scanned ; D

saltpiedras: Thanks. I like the look of flat shaded models a lot since color sometimes obscures the sculpture itself.

spaz8: Thank you. The mouth is where I started and the design grew from that downturned attitude. I appreciate the crit on the nose too. I agree the cavity is not deep enough and I want to develop the corrugator muscle and lateral folds of the brow now that I look at it. Thanks for your eyes on that : )

frogspasm: A lot of this detail is in the bump map. I have not played with the bumpviewer material before this and it takes a lot of strain off the projection master considering I can only divide to 2.5 million. I dont think I could get sharp details in the mesh at less than 8 million. Even then it might not be worth the trouble of trying to subdivide in Mental Ray to render that : P

Thanks again to everyone for your input : )

Scott

a quick update to show where I think I am going with the color scheme. This may change drasticly tho so input is welcome.

Gorgeous shapes! I really love the direction of it, but man, it almost screams mummified! I hope you don’t mind me suggesting something, but it really feels like old beaten leather, briddle, dark and a bit rotten even…but definitely dry with maybe some tender zones that are thin and moist enough to have some translucency, but all over it really benefits from dry hard detail showing shading.

Kick booty work…love it!:+1:

Hi friend i was all this time admiring this work!
Is really out of the common allien face with can see in the web everywhere.
Congratulations
Andreseloy

neato Scott! cool form and nice texturing. i did this little doodle – since you asked for suggestions - i think this looks too much like the gimp from doom – but maybe it’ll spark some ideas for ya – looking forward to seeing where ya take it…

Very cool work, my friend. You and you’re crazy designs… Can’t wait to see more from you.

great stuff Scott Spencer !

this character is amazing and very good done !!
congrats :sunglasses: :+1:

Hey Scott, great work…:+1:

btw, beautiful sculptures on your site, and a great demo reel. i wish you all the best, you deserve it! :+1:

Taron: Thank you! I really appreciate your input and I agree I think I need to press the more desaturated earthtones in the color scheme. I also need to determine how to create areas of varied material appearance in zbrush as I just started using the Zbrush renderer and materials. andreseloy: Thanks! im glad you like him.

jjburton: Thanks Josh! Good luck at Midway my friend : D

Vivian Drummer and Bucky: Thanks to you too

Matt: Cool paintover! Thanks for taking the time to do that. I like the idea but I think I want to stay with the eyeless face. If you have any color ideas feel free to let me know. I really like the layers in your chimp expecially the pinks and browns at his cheeks.
Congrats on the CGtalk toppage and your interview as well.

Im gonna try as hard as I can to get this out before Wed night when I leave. You all are really inspiring so if I can tear a moment away from my zbrush “work” work I will wrap this one up. Thanks again for the input : )

Scott

Great, great and great!!!I very like the skin texture.:sunglasses:

This is without doubt the most intelligent alien head I’ve ever seen anywhere. The eye idea is brilliant and it immediately suggest to me that this person sees through the lobes. I imagined some type of sophisticated radar/sonar whatever mechanism to image objects in wavelengths other than visible light.
