Twice on this page I’ve asked for information that could help us isolate this issue and try to help you. Why is it that only ONE person has done so?
I ended up reformating and the install went smoothly. Pain, but my comp I was installing ZBrush is just for 3D aps anyways, so I just had to reinstall those.
Goodluck,
Cheers.

Hi everyone who posted here, has anyone of you fixed this load/save tool issue??? I’m still having this crash T_T
how do you save in zbrush 3.5 im new and i was wondering how to do this
FYI
I had the same issue and I’m running ZB4. I didn’t have any issues till I made changes to the UI and remember saving it to the “CustomuserInterface35.cfg” file. After that every time I would try to save the tool I would get a dialog box stating “Abnormal Termination” and then it would crash. After reading this thread and hearing about the reinstalls, I thought about trying an earlier “Restore Point” with Windows XP. It was obvious on the ZB startup because the UI was back to default and as of yet no issues.
So… Don’t save to the CustomeruserInterface35.cfg file?
That’s my plan
hi,
i was having the same problem with zbrush
i even formatted the pc and installed zbrush and after installing zbrush it worked fine but after i restart the PC i had the same problem. in my case the reason for it was that my pc was infected with some viruses [c53z.exe,yeks94s.exe etc] which some of the antivirus softwares dont clean.this was not only with zbrush but some other softwares didnt work on my PC . Once i got them cleaned zbrush and other softwares started working fine.some of the viruses location is
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp
C:\WINDOWS\Temp
TRY THIS IT WORKED FOR ME…
i worked on Zbrush 3.1 on a normal 32bit (windows vista), then after the update to Zbrush 4 (on my 64bit windows 7) some files wouldnt open, giving me the “Zbrush Executable…” crash. I opened up Zbrush 3.1 on my windows vista and saved the file with a different and shorter name, then sent it to my email and opened it on my windows 7 workstation, and Zbrush 4 opened my file with no problem; exactly as it was on my windows vista machine!
im having problem which cant load a saved tools, last action i had done is importing 3ds max .obj and append it to saved subtool… when it ask to transfer high quality detail, i choose yes, then i save my .ztl…
right after i close zbrush and re open the file, it say "ABNORMAL TERMINATION, your file saved on Recovery file directory bla bla… "
for a note, i turn on Auto-Recovery on preference > performance > autorecovery a few days before, and importing .obj is still fine until today.
My specs are:
Windows vista ultimate x64
Intel pentium core2quad 2.40 ghz
Nvidia geforce 8600GS
8GB DDR2 RAM
Running zbrush 3.5 r3.
Ive never got this problem before… only on this .ztl file.
it is really frustrating that i always have to re-doing my work right after i finish it, and it happen several times…
i can send a copy of my .ztl to you if you want, maybe it will useful for zbrush developement team…
thanks
Please read. Solved my problem right away. just be sure to store your UI after turning it off, reload zbrush, then try and load/save something.
