Hey oDDity!! Very beautiful and yes very classic too!! ^^
I love the feeling… can u tell me one thing? did u generate some normal map or displacement for LW… or sent the 250,000 Pols for LW to render?
Yup, I just exported the obj. With the ram head and hair meshes it adds up to about 500k polys, but fprime in lightwave can handle that no problem, even with GI.
LW 8.5 I’m using. WIth G2 also for the sss.
I also did some finer details and used the bump maps.
I agree the head was too big to be aesthetically pleasing, I’ve been fixing that along with other adjustments.
This is a little quicktimew turntable animaiton of more or less the final piece, though maybe I will add some incidental decorative objects to the plinth.
THis movie is just to test the sss settings during animation. It’s tricky setting sss up for animation, it works on some frames, but on others there’s too much ot too little on various parts of the mesh, even after I’ve broken the mesh up into different surfaces according to their thickness.
Rather quick turnaround. Very interesting placement of the hair too. I thought it was her spine exposed at first. It looks like improved the arm location a bit more too. The original pose of the ram holding arm had a confusing sillouhette.
THe point wiht quicktimw movies is that you can drag the slider to see each frame.
The hair is my least favourite part. I find hair difficult to do in zbrush (wihtout subdividing the mesh to an insane level) , I will probably end up redesigning the hair at a later date when I work out a way of emulating the kind of hair you see in fine sculpture.
Omg this is an amazing model! I have no idea who gave u 4 stars this is 5 stars for sure!!! Id love to see a textured version soon!!! small_orange_diamondsmall_orange_diamondsmall_orange_diamondsmall_orange_diamond
Heh, I was anti-zbrush in that David contest because I beleived it was unfair to judge zbrush models next to polygon models.
Now that I have experience doing detailed anatomy in both, I hold that opinion even more.
There is zero doubt that modeling this sort of anatomy in zbrush is both easier and a lot faster, and therefore it cannot be fair to judge them against people working in poly modeling packages in a modeling contest.
AS for the leg, if you mean the way it’s bending along it’s axis, I can’t agree with that, I luckily found a horse image with it’s leg in that very position, so I had reference for that.
If you mean the way it’s bending in towards the other leg, I agree it is probably not correct for horse anatomy, but it’s a specific pose gesture I wanted, and this is a centaur after all, so you’d image their anatomy might be a little different in that area where is changes into a human.
ODDity, I know you from the Newtek forums (stunning Milkmaid) and it’s nice to see you down here too. I really think this model has beauty in it, and personally, I’ve never seen a female centaur before so I think the subject is very original.
I bought Zbrush to enhance my Lightwave work, and it very inspiring to see what’s possible with a good model, a fine eye for detail and a little bit of G2.
Looking forward to the other statues! small_orange_diamondsmall_orange_diamond
I think those things have already been fixed if you look at the .mov turntable. The bone is straight now, but the muscle and tendon on top of it give a bit of curve to the bend.
This is my first horse model though, so I’m no expert on horse anatomy.
