BUG ? : I think i found another one in z4r2 - ZSPHERES - INSERT LOCAL MESH

Hi community.

I´m not sure if i found a bug in zbr4r2. and maybe someone can reproduce this short
workflow ?

I wanted to use an old technique in creating a chain.
for this example i don´t create the chain elements - i just use a single ring3d.

1.) Ring 3d - converted to a polymesh3d
2.) simple Zsphere rig - created
3.) changed adaptive skin to “Use Classic Skinning”
4.) selected the root zsphere
5.) Insert Local Mesh - chose the ring3d polymesh

now the problem occurs:

the mesh (ring) is inserted properly but only local.
the other spheres stay in their original spherical shape.

also there is no “outline” showing up like in older zbrush versions
where this technique works well.

had the same problem with insert connector mesh.

maybe i´m just doing something wrong ?
can someone please try this workflow and share the experience ?
that would be great.

i have a license of zbr4r2 on mac os x (snow leopard)

thank you

cu Ollie

i tried everything again in z4r2 with some mannequin models as you know which also
are made from zspheres and here the selected polymesh is inserted - it works.

hmm strange. i really wonder if i´m doing something wrong with the traditional method.

I don’t think the insert mesh has worked with just the root zsphere since 3.5. You may find this little plugin useful : ZSphere Mesh Insert plugin

hello marcus_civis

i think i remember this useful script … but actually i never used it.

this is a absolute comfortable way to achieve what i am after.

thank you very much marcus for your help.

in times where we have “mega features” like dynamesh subtools etc.
the “old techniques” are still very useful and sometimes forgotten

again, thank you very much.
