hey there

Just wanted to say that your new character is getting there looking
very good already.
Coming from mrfish u have done mayor improvements  :+1:
Building a tank in zbrush is insane
U should maybe also have some looks at classical boxmodellers
high poly modelling can even be fun outside of zbrush  :+1:

The horned guy is looking cool. Well done on building a tank in ZBrush! :+1:

hey there,

many thanks for your kind comments on my work.

@ stu: many thanks!!! yeah, i already thought of traditional boxmodelling. but i think making all inside zbrush is possible and makes it special
and i would have to learn a lot. i mean, i thrown the idea to become a pro, so i don’t have any pressure to model clean. i just want to create some nice images and i think this can be done only using zbrush and ps. maybe in some time i will try other apps to model hard surfaces.
this time my goal is to stay inside zbrush. i think for illustration-purposes its enough.

@captain: many thanks! yeah, the tank isn’t done yet, it was just the first session on it. i’ll refine some areas, give it more detail (plates, damage, and some bolts) and texture it. i think the result can turn out nice.

thanks for commenting my work again

have a nice day.

The character is really developing nicely, great work dude!! :+1: :+1:

hey spimmy,

many thanks! i am working on it.

here is an update… some polypaint and a pose. i will try to get close to my concept.

i am in a hurry, so not much text today.

Hi Wethand! The new guy’s comin’ along great! Loved the Tank video, tnx for posting :+1: !

hey there,

thanks etcher

here is something new: a finger for free.
i have a scene in my head… and i need some… little gimmicks, so here is my first detail: a finger.
i had massive problems with the uvs (3ds max design 2009), but in the end i solve it…
how i did it:

  1. unify your mesh
  2. go to lowest subdiv and make a morph target
  3. export and import into 3ds max.
  4. make uv’s
  5. export with the preset “zbrush” and turn off all optimization and make polys, not quads.
  6. back to zbrush make sure you have your lowest lvl as the morph target, then import your uv-mesh.

that worked fine for me.
it was little bit to big for the forum so i uploaded it to my webspace.
its an ZTL with all levels and uvs. the texture is only polypaint.
hope, you like it.

Oops, so viele Updates und ich habs total verpasst. Bin auch nicht soo oft online bei ZBC seit 2 Wo – zu viel um die Ohren.
Wie ich sehe bist Du ja fleißig am Zbrushen.

Interessantes Gimmick lach.

hey there.

Interesting new character. I like how his head tapers a bit thinner at the top in your sketch though. Nice hat too. Looking forward to more :+1:

hey wethland. awesome sculpts you’ve got here. I was just wondering if you could make a short video tutorial where you export the finger into 3ds max and make UV’s and take it back to zbrush? Basicly what you wrote earlier just this time a short video tutorial? much appreciated.

B2005

Cool stuffs man… The brain is nice too!

hey guys,

@ captain: thanks man. the head is done and textured. i forgot the hat… -.- next time.

@bao: hey there. i am using 3ds max 9 for mapping again. its much better. no presets, no problems

@subcesoir: thanks man! it’s an honor a pro like you looks in my thread.

here is just little update. the pose is done. and the headtexture. i tried different shader setups. but the standard-material turned out to be the best i think.

reminds me of Dr. Zoidberg, only a bit more gruesome…

yeah, already heard that ^^

Hello! Just wants to say that I love your characters, especially those with animal heads! Many really cool characters here. It looks like you’ve decided to spend more time learning to create good renders, that’s good, because these great models need better renders:)

hey there.

thank you very much for your nice replys.

yeah, i am trying to get nice renders. i think you can get awesome renders directly out of zbrush. but it’s such a work…
so, i am building up a workflow. and it seems it works nicely.

i like working with lowres-models with normalmaps. even if its possible to use decimation-master.
i prefer it because if i use many instances of the same mesh the rendertime grows… and with high-res or mid-res meshes it would take too long. especially in the experimenting-phase.

i just wanted to share my last render-test. 3ds max.
i have problems with creating believable crush-ice. if you have an idea how i could try, let me know.
and i think the fingers are a touch too blue… or the arms a touch to red… ^^
in the end it will be a small detail, so it doesn’t have to be perfect… just believable.

anyway, i am proud it works so nicely… my way to get zbrush into 3ds max…

Good renders, I think if you are going for the limbs on ice, the skin on the fingers looks a bit more cold and dead than the arms. I think its because there is less red in the diffuse color, I would make the arms match. Keep up the good work :+1:

hey there.
thanks. yeah, you are right. the arms have to be more blue. and i think the fingers on the arm are a touch to thin…

here is something new for the scene. i hope it is recognizeable… it is a liver
