3d Rapid Prototyping

Deevee bought up an interesting point in Mentat7’s KillerGrahl image which brought me to this thought.

If you have a model that you did that is a single Polymesh you could export it and convert it to the proper file format and then you could send it off to a 3d rapid prototyping service and have an actualy physical model made of your file. One such service could be found here:
http://www.poserbuilder.com

I haven’t used this service so I’m not endorsing them, but I might give them a try sometime in the near future.

Thanks, Winged One! That’s some pretty impressive stuff!

Great site, W/O… :+1:
Have you ever heard of ‘Modello’? It’s a Japanese desktop sized unit, that hooks up to a computer and does this sort of thing, using an X/Y/Z translation stage, and various cutting tools, enabling the production of wax, plastic, or wood replicas from computer files…
I had the bookmark on my other computer, and I might fire it up to find the site again…

If I do find it, I’ll post the link here.

There’s another place that makes models from 3d model formats. http://www.toybuilders.com/

this is a way kewl topic…and very nice links…the poser builder people seem a bit on the high priced side…

Yeah, I checked out toybuilders.com and it seems that they might be more reasonable in the price range.
