Soooo in some sense I don’t think pirate stuff is tooooo bad as long as you buy the program in the end.
And how do you know if you’re going to buy it or not, if you’re using the warez copy as a trial version? That’s a bad excuse.
yuriythebest, what you’re missing is that piracy isn’t an action… it’s a way of life, or a habit. That’s not the case with someone who purchases pirate software unknowingly. People who pirate software don’t do it because they can’t get their hands on a trial version. They do it because they’re greedy, and because they know they can get something without having to pay for it. People tell me all the time that when they can afford it they’ll buy the pirated program they use every day. I’ve seen them get the cash, and I’ve seen them do nothing about buying the program they told me they would. Instead, they spend the cash on other things they can’t as easily steal.
You’re right in that if you’re not in the US it’s unlikely you’ll get busted for having pirate software. But, many, many businesses are getting done for using pirate software these days (all around the world) and I think people who form a habit of pirating things put themselves into a dangerous frame of mind. Don’t believe me? No worries… it’s not my problem.
I used to pirate everything I wanted, but for moral reasons I stopped. Most people are morally deficient, so for them I simply say- if you do it, you’re a real dummy for doing so. Besides, it’s not like people need software to survive. If you can’t get a bit of software, just do without it. When you can afford it, buy programs and support the developers who worked hard to bring it to you.
