…crunch videos ! Miam miam!
Great skills!
kici - thanks, what is it that you would like to see exactly?
Frenchy Pilou - ahah thank you
tobbeo - thank you very much. I have high respect for your skills. You’ve worked on some pretty amazing projects over the years. Hope all is well!
I’d love to see the process of making the woman character that you made previously, well of course do not remake it, but whenever you’re making another new character, if you could spare some time and effort to make a video, and perhaps speed it up and write what tools you had used, briefly explaining things, I mean with those skills and a tutorial, I’m sure you’ll get lots of hits! People will appreciate it, because I’d rather follow some techniques from someone like you, than make my own, because it is obvious you have mastered them (:
Basically I’d like to see how you make the character from scratch, the tiny tiny high details don’t have to be so explained but the making of the character is what is the hardest for me, once I master that skill I’d look into details, thanks in advance.
great Sketchbook,i wonder how i missed this thread
Hi James, many thanks for keeping us up to date on your fantastic work. I especially enjoyed the lunch break footage!!
I was just wondering though, do you approach a session (or even your regular work) with concepts, ideas formed in your mind or do you just fire up zbrush and see where it takes you?
I always tend to struggle with finding inspiration and then transcribing my ideas into the model. Any thoughts would be of great interest for me and im sure, many others here!
Thanks again.

Those lunch crunch videos are incredible. Once in a while you see someone do quick stuff, and it influences your own approach. Thanks for that!
But I have one question:
I was wondering how you get from what is pretty rough in the beginning to a smoother surface.
After you have your shapes build up with claytubes, do you subdivide once more and just smooth out? Or do you apply some sort of polish?
I love claytubes, but I always have a hard time getting to a more even surface after it, without blending everything together.
Maybe you could just describe your workflow, and did you start the caveman also with claytubes?
Thanks, keep it up!
WOW… your speed sculpts are insane man!! Love the designs… thanks a lot for posting the videos!!! It’s always interesting to see other artists’ workflows.
Keep it up!
Ur speed sculpts are wow, so much imagination and such technique. Congrats on the top row.
