This was my entry to the Street Fighter Tribute Art Contest.*
It wasn't picked but at least that means I get to post it now. This was a bit of a rush job for me (I didn't intend to enter but decided half a week before the deadline to have a go at it, just for the heck of it). ZBrush+Photoshop. (This is the final image after additional tweaking--the one I actually submitted for the contest is at the very bottom). Some ZBrush renders: *The pic below is what I actually submitted for the contest. I touched it up some more after the deadline. Thanks for looking! |

Lots of people doing Cammy lately. I have to say that this one reminds me the most of classic Cammy.

once again nice work.
is your final render just composited from those three, flat color, spec, depth? i love her look of comtemplation, its creepy in a way, as if shes planning out exactly all the moves to destroy you. |

Thanks, Twitchmonkey! I was definitely aiming for a classic feel. I still took a bit of the colors/costume/leg patterns from the later incarnations though.
Thanks, spaceboy412! The final is actually a melding of many render passes, some of which I didn't post. I was short on time so I rendered a bunch of stuff--some shadows/lights on/off, etc.--and just took what I needed from each in Photoshop. The main renders are the first one with full lighting (and optional head with hair strands), plus the three you mentioned. I found the flat color render helps punch up the colors nice in Photoshop when used on a layer set to 'overlay'. The depth grab is for using as a mask for atmosphere/blur, etc. Of course, I also touch things up quite a bit in Photoshop to polish things off. I'm also glad you got the intention of the piece--I wanted it to look like she was sizing up her competitors. Thank you, gookle! I wanted her to be 'pretty' as opposed to her usual sexpot self. ![]() |

well, i like it a lot. one thing i'm wondering to learn how to do is the seperate layers of rendering that you did, i see diffuse, ao and is that spec layers? was that straight out of zbrush? the only thing that seems really odd to me is how her braids are there, they don't seem to be affected by gravity.

Thanks, PJC_Slimo! It's really just a matter of rendering different versions with different materials and then layering them in Photoshop, using layer masks to blend various parts of them together. The 'diffuse' looking one actually has some specularity in it too. I just make materials I think will look and mix good rather than following a formula.
I could have spent more time on the hair--they're just posed for composition really. ![]() |

piz: Thanks, piz! I also did this silly dragon a few weeks ago: http://209.132.96.165/zbc/showthread.php?t=57719
I didn't expect to jump back in so quick with this Cammy pic. ryankingslien: Thank you! Your blog tutorials have helped a lot. Especially with the braids on this one. (Long ago I made a braid out of zspheres in ZBrush 2 which took forever!) DigitalDreamer: Thanks! They had a huge turnout so I'm sure there must be plenty of great art to come. rouncer: lol |

That is one of the best Cammy's incarnations I've seen! Amazing rendering too! Keep up the good work.
